  • The Vogtle nuclear plant in Waynesboro, Georgia, is the nation’s largest nuclear power plant, with four reactors that have 4,500 megawatts of combined generating capacity.
  • In 2024, natural gas accounted for 41% of Georgia’s total electricity net generation and nuclear power provided 34%. Coal accounted for nearly 13% and renewable energy, including solar power, biomass, and hydropower, accounted for about 12%.
  • The Elba Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal added export facilities and began exporting LNG in 2019. In 2023, the Elba Island terminal exported almost 109 billion cubic feet of natural gas but did not receive any LNG imports.
  • Georgia ranks second in the nation, after North Carolina, in wood pellet manufacturing capacity, and the state has the largest wood pellet plant.
