Cost of Natural Gas Used in Manufacturing Sector Has Fallen

Sep 6, 2013
Natural gas has been an important exception to the trend of rising prices for energy sources used by manufacturers. Production of natural gas in the United States increased rapidly beginning in 2007 as a result of resources found in shale formations. That increase in supply has in turn lowered the price of natural gas to manufacturers

Sudan and South Sudan Country Analysis Brief

Sep 5, 2013
South Sudan gained independence from Sudan in July 2011. Most of the oil is now produced in South Sudan, but the country is landlocked and remains dependent on Sudan because it must use Sudan’s export pipelines and processing facilities. In early 2012, South Sudan voluntarily shut in all of its oil production because of a dispute with Sudan over oil transit fees. After nearly 15 months of intermittent negotiations, South Sudan restarted oil production in April 2013. Despite the progress that has been made to reconcile differences, several unresolved issues remain.

Petroleum Marketing Monthly

Sep 3, 2013
In this issue of the Petroleum Marketing Monthly, preliminary June 2013 data show prices for crude oil and many finished petroleum products on the decline. Prime Supplier data show another small month-on-month increase in gasoline consumption in the United States, while consumption of ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel and other distillates registered decreases.

Malaysia Country Analysis Brief

Sep 3, 2013
Malaysia is a significant oil and natural gas producer in Asia and is strategically located amid important routes for seaborne energy trade. The country’s oil reserves are the fifth highest in the Asia-Pacific region after China and India. Also, Malaysia was the world’s second largest exporter of liquefied natural gas after Qatar in 2012. Declining oil and gas production growth and rising domestic and regional energy demand is prompting Malaysia to invest in downstream infrastructure such as oil and gas import terminals, storage facilities, and refining capacity to ensure adequate energy supply.

Natural Gas Monthly

Aug 30, 2013
The August Natural Gas Monthly, with data through June 2013, has been released. • Monthly dry gas production for June was 1,989 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 66.3 Bcf/day, level with the revised dry production for May of 2,055 or 66.3 Bcf/day. • Total consumption of natural gas for June 2013 was 1,726 Bcf or 57.5 Bcf/day, an 8 percent decrease from June 2012.

Monthly Natural Gas Gross Production Report

Aug 30, 2013
Monthly natural gas gross withdrawals estimated from data collected on Form EIA-914 (Monthly Natural Gas Production Report) for Federal Offshore Gulf of Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming, Other States and Lower 48 States. Alaska data are from the State of Alaska and included to obtain a U.S. Total.

The Availability and Price of Petroleum and Petroleum Products Produced in Countries Other Than Iran

Aug 29, 2013
The tenth in a series of reports required by section 1245 (d) (4) (A) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, which requires that, not later than 60 days from enactment and every 60 days thereafter, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) “submit to Congress a report on the availability and price of petroleum and petroleum products produced in countries other than Iran in the 60-day period preceding the submission of the report.”

Modeling Distributed Generation in the Buildings Sectors

Aug 29, 2013
This report focuses on how EIA models residential and commercial sector distributed generation, including combined heat and power, for the Annual Energy Outlook.

Petroleum Supply Monthly

Aug 29, 2013
Supply and disposition of crude oil and petroleum products on a national and regional level. The data series describe production, imports and exports, movements and inventories.

Company Level Imports

Aug 29, 2013

Monthly Biodiesel Production Report

Aug 29, 2013
The U.S. Energy Information Administration released new data today showing national and regional monthly biodiesel production for June 2013. In addition to biodiesel production, data included producer sales, producer stocks, and feedstock inputs.

Monthly Energy Review

Aug 27, 2013
EIA's most comprehensive report on recent integrated energy statistics. Preliminary data indicate that, in May 2013, primary energy consumption in the U.S. electric power sector equaled 3.1 quadrillion Btu, a 4-percent decrease from May 2012.

Caspian Sea Regional Analysis Brief

Aug 26, 2013
The Caspian Sea region is one of the oldest oil-producing areas in the world and is quickly growing as a natural gas production hub. EIA estimates 48 billion barrels of oil and 292 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in proved and probable reserves in the Caspian Sea and surrounding basins. However, the Caspian region faces several challenges to oil and natural gas extraction, including difficulties in moving products to world markets and finding sufficient investment for major projects, such as Kazakhstan’s Kashagan oil field.

Prime Supplier Report

Aug 21, 2013
The latest Prime Supplier Report presents data collected through June 2013 on Form EIA-782C, "Monthly Report of Prime Supplier Sales of Petroleum Products Sold for Local Consumption." These data measure primary petroleum product deliveries into the States where they are locally marketed and consumed.

Preliminary 2012 Annual Electric Sales and Revenue Data

Aug 15, 2013
These files contain electricity sales, revenue and price data, as well as Demand Side Management (DSM), Green Pricing, Net Metering, Dispersed and Distributed generation data. The geographic data coverage encompasses the 50 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories.

Eastern Mediterranean Regional Analysis Brief

Aug 15, 2013
The eastern Mediterranean region—defined in this report as Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and the Palestinian Territories—is currently undergoing changes to its energy landscape. With expected economic growth, and the population of the region forecast to grow from 45.3 million in 2010 to between 58 and 62 million in 2030, energy demand should increase noticeably over the next two decades. At present levels of consumption, regional oil and natural gas reserves are unlikely to last for more than a few decades. Fortunately, recent discoveries of large hydrocarbon resources—particularly natural gas—in the offshore Levant Basin significantly alter the supply-side forecasts for the region. These discoveries have the potential to provide the necessary energy supply to meet growing regional demand and possibly even spur exports.

EIA releases State fact sheets on household energy use

Aug 13, 2013
The Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS) gathers information through personal interviews with a nationwide sample of homes and energy suppliers. The 2009 survey was the largest RECS to date and the larger sample size allowed for the release of data for 16 individual states, in addition to national, regional, and division-level estimates.

Rooftop solar photovoltaic systems account for 20% of Puerto Rico’s capacity mix ›

Rooftop solar generating capacity in Puerto Rico totaled 1,456 megawatts (MW) at the end of 2025, 20% of the overall capacity mix. Rooftop solar capacity has increased faster than other sources over the past decade. Between 2016 and 2025 rooftop solar installations accounted for 81% of the new generating capacity in Puerto Rico, according to data from our Electric Power Monthly and Puerto Rico Energy Bureau’s (PREB) Quarterly Report on System Data. In 2025, rooftop solar became the second-largest capacity source, after petroleum liquids capacity (3,671 MW), and surpassed natural gas capacity (1,391 MW). More
