Notice: On May 14, 2018, EIA implemented new statistical methodologies for conducting the Motor Gasoline Price Survey. As a result of these methodological changes, the published estimates for May 14, 2018, will not be directly comparable to those published for May 7, 2018. The published geographical areas for retail motor gasoline prices will remain the same.

What We Pay For In A Gallon Of Regular Gasoline (March 2018) Retail Price: $2.59/gallon Taxes - Fees collected on a gallon of fuel that are 
paid to the federal, state, or local government. Distribution and Marketing - Products are shipped by 
pipeline, stored at terminals, and trucks deliver gasoline and diesel fuel to retail stations. Refiners - process crude oil to make gasoline, diesel fuel, 
and other products for sale to retailers and resellers. Crude oil - Domestic and foreign crude oil producers 
sell crude oil to refiners for processing.
