Distributed Generation System Characteristics and Costs in the Buildings Sector
Apr 19, 2017
This study commissioned by the U.S. Energy Information Administration finds that characteristics and costs of distributed generation are influenced by government policies, size, and application of the different technologies. Distributed solar photovoltaics (PV) and small wind are experiencing significant cost decreases through technological progress and economies of scale.
Drilling Productivity Report
Apr 17, 2017
The Drilling Productivity Report (DPR) uses recent data on the total number of drilling rigs in operation along with estimates of drilling productivity and estimated changes in production from existing oil and natural gas wells to provide estimated changes in oil and natural gas production for seven key regions.
Quarterly Coal Report, October – December 2016
Apr 17, 2017
U.S. coal production during fourth quarter 2016 totaled 199.5 million short tons. This was 2.3% higher than the previous quarter and 3.7% lower than fourth quarter 2015. Fourth quarter 2016 U.S. coal exports (19.3 million short tons) increased 54.1% from third quarter 2016 and increased 26.4% from fourth quarter 2015. U.S. coal imports in fourth quarter 2016 totaled 2.1 million short tons. All data for 2015 and prior years are final. All data for 2016 are preliminary.

Alternative Fueled Vehicle Data
Apr 13, 2017
The annual data for 2015 about fuel use and the number of vehicles in inventory for four types of alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) fleets: federal government, state governments, transit agencies, and fuel providers, is now available. The data is available through an interactive data viewer as well as spreadsheets.
Short-Term Energy Outlook
Apr 11, 2017
For the 2017 April-through-September summer driving season, U.S. regular gasoline retail prices are forecast to average $2.46/gallon (gal), compared with $2.23/gal last summer (see Summer Fuels Outlook). The higher forecast gasoline price is primarily the result of higher forecast crude oil prices. For all of 2017, the forecast average price for regular gasoline is $2.39/gal, which, if realized, would result in the average U.S. household spending about $200 more on motor fuel in 2017 compared with 2016.
Underground Natural Gas Working Storage Capacity
Apr 3, 2017
Natural gas working storage capacity (in terms of demonstrated maximum working gas volumes and design capacity) in November 2016 was slightly higher than November 2015 in the Lower 48 states. Peak demonstrated capacity grew by about 1% in most regions, with the exception of the South Central Salt sub-region, which grew by nearly 3%, and the East region, which fell by less than 1%. Similarly, design capacity over that same period was down slightly in the East region; flat in the Midwest, Mountain, and Pacific regions; and up in the South Central region.
Petroleum Marketing Monthly
Apr 3, 2017
The April 2017 Petroleum Marketing Monthly (PMM), with data through January 2017, presents monthly and annual price and volume statistics covering crude oil and refined products sales in the United States.
In this issue of the PMM, 2016 annual averages are available for finished petroleum products in Tables 2 through 17. Preliminary January 2017 data show prices for crude oil and refined products rose from December 2016 levels. U.S.-level Prime Supplier data show sales for most surveyed products declined from last month’s levels.

Natural Gas Monthly
Mar 31, 2017
In January 2017, for the eleventh consecutive month, dry natural gas production decreased year-to-year from the same month a year ago. The preliminary level for dry natural gas production in January 2017 was 2,193 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 70.7 Bcf/day. This level was a 2.6 Bcf/day (3.6%) decrease from the January 2016 level of 73.4 Bcf/day. See the full report to get all the highlights.
