Drilling Productivity Report
Mar 13, 2017
EIA’s monthly Drilling Productivity Report (DPR) has been released. The DPR takes a fresh look at oil and natural gas production, starting with an assessment of how and where drilling for hydrocarbons is taking place. It uses recent data on the total number of drilling rigs in operation along with estimates of drilling productivity and estimated changes in production from existing oil and natural gas wells to provide estimated changes in oil and natural gas production for seven key fields.
Midwest and Rocky Mountain Transportation Fuels Markets
Mar 8, 2017
A new study commissioned by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), finds that changes in North American energy markets over the past decade have strengthened the supply of transportation fuels including motor gasoline, distillates, and jet fuel in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions.
Australia Country Analysis Brief
Mar 7, 2017
Australia, rich in energy commodities, is one of the world’s top producers and exporters of fossil fuels and uranium. The country’s stable political environment, relatively transparent regulatory structure, substantial hydrocarbon reserves, and its proximity to Asian markets make it an attractive location for investment in energy production and mining. Although, in the past few years, Australia’s energy projects, particularly LNG export facilities, have faced escalating costs, creating some challenges to companies developing hydrocarbon resources there.
Short-Term Energy Outlook

Petroleum Marketing Monthly
Mar 1, 2017
The March 2017 Petroleum Marketing Monthly (PMM), with data through December 2016, presents monthly and annual price and volume statistics covering crude oil and refined products sales in the United States.
In this issue of the PMM, preliminary data show prices for crude oil and refined products were on the rise during December. U.S.-level Prime Supplier data show sales of gasoline and distillates declined month-on-month, but remained above year-ago rates. Additionally, updated federal and state gasoline and diesel fuel tax information is available on the PMM website.
Refinery Outages: First Half 2017
Feb 28, 2017
EIA's latest analysis of planned refinery outages during the first half of 2017 finds that such outages are not expected to cause a shortfall in the supply of petroleum products including gasoline, jet fuel, and distillate fuel, relative to expected demand, either nationally or within any U.S. region. This result occurs notwithstanding the current high level of U.S. gasoline demand, which in 2016 was as high as or higher than in any past year.
