Saudi Arabia Country Analysis Brief
Sep 10, 2014
Saudi Arabia is the largest exporter and the second-largest producer of total petroleum liquids in the world. Total petroleum liquids production declined in 2013, the first decline since 2009, due to a decrease in crude oil production. Saudi Arabia has the fifth-largest natural gas reserves, but natural gas production remains limited. The country has plans to not only increase natural gas production in the future but to also diversify its power generation sources.
Short-Term Energy Outlook
Sep 9, 2014
Driven in large part by falling crude oil prices, U.S. regular gasoline retail prices fell to an average of $3.49/per gallon (gal) in August, 12 cents below the July average and 21 cents below the average in June.

World petroleum and other liquid fuels consumption will increase 38% by 2040, spurred by increased demand in the developing Asia and Middle East, according to projections in International Energy Outlook 2014 (IEO2014), released today by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Drilling Productivity Report
Sep 8, 2014
The Utica Region in eastern Ohio, one of the fastest growing natural gas production areas in the United States, has been added to the Drilling Productivity Report (DPR). Total natural gas production in the Utica Region, which includes production from the Utica and Point Pleasant formations as well as legacy production from conventional reservoirs, has increased from 155 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) in January 2012 to an estimated 1.5 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in October 2014.
Sudan and South Sudan Country Analysis Brief
Sep 3, 2014
South Sudan gained independence from Sudan in July 2011. Most of the oil production capacity is now in South Sudan, but the country is landlocked and remains dependent on Sudan because it must use Sudan's export pipelines and port. Disagreements over oil revenue sharing and armed conflict have curtailed oil production in both countries over the past few years. For the first half of 2014, Sudan and South Sudan's oil production averaged 260,000 barrels per day (bbl/d), down from almost 490,000 bbl/d in 2010.

Aug 29, 2014
The August Natural Gas Monthly, with data through June 2014, has been released.
• Preliminary dry gas production for June 2014 of 2,106 billion cubic feet (Bcf) or 70.2 Bcf/day. This is the fourth consecutive month where the Bcf/day dry production value set the record for the highest ever for any month. June’s 70.2 Bcf/day is a slight increase from May’s revised 69.9 Bcf/day.
• Preliminary total consumption for June 2014 is 1,745 Bcf or 58.2 Bcf per day, remaining steady from May. This represents an increase of less than 1% from last June’s 1,732 Bcf or 57.7 Bcf/day, and is the second highest on record for the month.
• Deliveries to residential consumers for June 2014 (125 Bcf or 4.2 Bcf/day) are the second lowest on record for the month; commercial deliveries (140 Bcf or 4.7 Bcf/day) are the highest for June since 2002; industrial deliveries (586 Bcf or 19.5 Bcf/day) are also the highest for the month since 2002; and electric power deliveries for June (719 Bcf or 24.0 Bcf/day) are down 2% from June 2013.

Australia Country Analysis Brief
Aug 28, 2014
Australia, rich in energy commodities, has become one of the world’s top producers and exporters of fossil fuels and uranium. The country’s stable political environment, relatively transparent regulatory structure, substantial hydrocarbon reserves, and its proximity to Asian markets make it an attractive location for investment in energy production and mining. Although, more recently, Australia’s energy projects have faced escalating costs, creating challenges to companies developing hydrocarbon resources there.

Egypt Country Analysis Brief
Aug 14, 2014
Egypt is the largest oil producer in Africa outside of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the second-largest natural gas producer on the continent, behind Algeria. Egypt plays a vital role in international energy markets through the operation of the Suez Canal and Suez-Mediterranean (SUMED) Pipeline. Egypt’s economy has not fully recovered since the 2011 revolution. The government continues to fund energy subsidies, which cost the government $26 billion in 2012, and this has contributed to the country’s high budget deficit and the inability of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the country’s national oil company, to pay off its debt to foreign operators.
