EIA's most comprehensive report on recent integrated energy statistics. Preliminary data indicate that, in January 2015, total energy consumption in the U.S. industrial sector equaled 2.7 quadrillion Btu, a 1% decrease from January 2014.

Year in Review: Crude Oil Prices 2014

Apr 28, 2015
This report gives an overview of the primary drivers of crude oil price movements in 2014, in particular the substantial price decline that took place during the second half of the year. Factors such as increased global supply of crude oil, lower crude oil supply disruptions, lower economic growth expectations, and currency exchange rate movements are explored in the report. In addition, links are provided to several other published EIA articles with further in-depth discussion of topics related to the oil price decline.

Updated Buildings Sector Appliance and Equipment Costs and Efficiency

Apr 15, 2015
EIA works with technology experts to project the cost and efficiency of future HVAC, lighting, and other major end-use equipment rather than developing residential and commercial technology projections in-house. These reports have always been available by request. By providing the reports online, EIA is increasing transparency for some of the most important assumptions used for our AEO projections of buildings energy demand.

Annual Energy Outlook 2015

Apr 14, 2015
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) today released the Annual Energy Outlook 2015 (AEO2015), which in addition to the Reference case, includes 5 alternative cases (Low and High Economic Growth, Low and High Oil Price, and High Oil and Gas Resource) which show how different assumptions regarding market, policy, and technology drivers affect projections of energy production, consumption, technology, and market trends and the direction they may take in the future. The AEO2015 is a shorter edition of the AEO. To focus more resources on rapidly changing energy markets and the ways in which they might evolve over the next few years, EIA has revised the schedule and approach for production of the AEO. Starting with AEO2015, EIA is adopting a two-year release cycle for the AEO, with a full edition of the AEO produced in alternating years and a shorter edition in the other years.

Drilling Productivity Report

Apr 13, 2015
EIA’s monthly Drilling Productivity Report (DPR) has been released. The DPR takes a fresh look at oil and natural gas production, starting with an assessment of how and where drilling for hydrocarbons is taking place. It uses recent data on the total number of drilling rigs in operation along with estimates of drilling productivity and estimated changes in production from existing oil and natural gas wells to provide estimated changes in oil and natural gas production for seven key fields.

State Energy Data System: Coal for 2013

Apr 10, 2015
Annual state-level estimates of coal consumption, prices, and expenditures.

Short-Term Energy Outlook and Summer Fuels Outlook

Apr 7, 2015
North Sea Brent crude oil prices averaged $58/barrel (bbl) in February, an increase of $10/bbl from the January average, and the first monthly average price increase since June 2014. The price increase reflects news of falling U.S. crude oil rig counts and announced reductions in capital expenditures by major oil companies, along with lower-than-expected Iraqi crude oil exports.

Short-Term Energy Outlook - Market Prices and Uncertainty Report

Apr 7, 2015
Over the past month, international crude oil prices recorded the first month-over-month increase since June 2014. The North Sea Brent front month futures price settled at $60.48/bbl on March 5, an increase of $5.73/bbl from February 2. In the U.S. market, domestic crude oil prices continued to lag behind international benchmarks. The front month West Texas Intermediate (WTI) contract price settled at $50.76/bbl on March 5, $1.19/bbl higher than at the start of February.

Technical options for processing additional light tight oil volumes within the United States

Apr 6, 2015
This report examines technical options for processing additional LTO volumes within the United States. Domestic processing of additional LTO would enable an increase in petroleum product exports from the United States, already the world’s largest net exporter of petroleum products. Unlike crude oil, products are not subject to export limitations or licensing requirements. While this is one possible approach to absorbing higher domestic LTO production in the absence of a relaxation of current limitations on crude exports, domestic LTO would have to be priced at a level required to encourage additional LTO runs at existing refinery units, debottlenecking, or possible additions of processing capacity.

Top 100 U.S. Oil and Gas Fields

Apr 2, 2015
This supplement to the U.S. Crude Oil and Natural Gas Proved Reserves, 2013 ranks the 100 largest U.S. oil and gas fields by their estimated 2013 proved reserves.

Petroleum Marketing Monthly

Apr 1, 2015
The April 2015 Petroleum Marketing Monthly (PMM), with data through January 2015, presents monthly and annual price and volume statistics covering crude oil and refined products sales in the United States. 2014 annual averages are available for data covering sales of finished petroleum products in Tables 2 through 17. Additionally, updated state motor fuels tax information is available in Table EN1. Preliminary monthly data show crude oil and finished petroleum products prices continued to fall in January. U.S.-level Prime Supplier data show mixed trends with distillates and propane sales rising, while sales of other surveyed products declined.

OPEC Revenues Fact Sheet

Mar 31, 2015
For 2014, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that, excluding Iran, members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) earned about $730 billion in net oil export revenues (unadjusted for inflation). This represents an 11% decline from the $824 billion earned in 2013, largely because of the decline in average annual crude oil prices, and to a lesser extent from decreases in the amount of OPEC net oil exports. This was the lowest earnings for the group since 2010. For 2015, EIA projects that OPEC net oil export revenues (excluding Iran) could fall further to about $380 billion in 2015 (unadjusted for inflation) as a result of the much lower annual crude oil prices expected in 2015.

Natural Gas Monthly

Mar 31, 2015
• Preliminary dry gas production for January 2015 was 2,287 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 73.8 Bcf/day, down from last month’s record high of 74.8 Bcf/day. January's production was a 6 Bcf/day increase from 67.8 Bcf/day in January 2014, an 8.8% rise from year to year. • Preliminary total consumption for January 2015 was 3,130 Bcf, or 101 Bcf/day, a decrease of 3% from 3,227 Bcf in January 2014, or 104.1 Bcf/day. • Total consumption for January 2015 decreased in most sectors year to year: Deliveries to residential consumers for January 2015 were 930 Bcf, or 30 Bcf/day, a 10% drop from 33.3 Bcf/day in January 2014; commercial deliveries were 526 Bcf, or 17 Bcf/day, an 8% decrease from 18.5 Bcf/day in January 2014; and industrial deliveries were 715 Bcf, or 23.1 Bcf/day, down 1% from 23.3 Bcf/day in January 2014. Electric power deliveries showed an increase from last January: January 2015 deliveries were 713 Bcf, or 23 Bcf/day, a 7.5% rise from January 2014’s 21.4 Bcf/day.

Rooftop solar photovoltaic systems account for 20% of Puerto Rico’s capacity mix ›

Rooftop solar generating capacity in Puerto Rico totaled 1,456 megawatts (MW) at the end of 2025, 20% of the overall capacity mix. Rooftop solar capacity has increased faster than other sources over the past decade. Between 2016 and 2025 rooftop solar installations accounted for 81% of the new generating capacity in Puerto Rico, according to data from our Electric Power Monthly and Puerto Rico Energy Bureau’s (PREB) Quarterly Report on System Data. In 2025, rooftop solar became the second-largest capacity source, after petroleum liquids capacity (3,671 MW), and surpassed natural gas capacity (1,391 MW). More
