Monthly Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production
Sep 30, 2015
EIA is providing estimates for crude oil production (including lease condensate) based on data from the EIA-914 survey. Survey-based monthly production estimates starting with January 2015 are provided for Arkansas, California, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wyoming, and the Federal Gulf of Mexico. For Oklahoma and all remaining oil-producing states and areas not individually covered by the EIA-914, production estimates are based on the previous methodology (using lagged state data).

Natural Gas Annual
Sep 30, 2015
• The 2014 Natural Gas Annual shows record natural gas production levels in the United States for the fourth consecutive year and record consumption levels for the fifth consecutive year.
• Domestic dry production of 25.7 trillion cubic feet (Tcf), or 70.5 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) , in 2014 was 6.3% above the 2013 level, with production in Ohio increasing the most, percentage-wise, of any state. Dry natural gas production in Ohio rose nearly 200%, from 0.45 Bcf/d in 2013 to 1.33 Bcf/d in 2013. As was the case last year, Pennsylvania again saw the biggest total annual gain, increasing by more than 2.5 Bcf/d, from 8.87 Bcf/d in 2013 to 11.44 Bcf/d in 2014.
• Consumer deliveries of natural gas were at a record level of 24.4 Tcf, or 66.7 Bcf/d. Residential, commercial, industrial, and vehicle fuel deliveries each showed an increase from 2013 deliveries, led by industrial volumes, which rose from 20.3 Bcf/d in 2013 to 20.9 Bcf/d in 2014. Electric power deliveries were virtually unchanged from the 2013 level.
• For the seventh consecutive year, gains in domestic natural gas production led to a decline in natural gas imports in 2014. Total U.S. imports of natural gas in 2014 were 2,695,378 Mcf (million cubic feet), the lowest level since 1994. Exports of natural gas dropped from 1,572,413 Mcf in 2013 to 1,514,242 Mcf in 2014, the second consecutive yearly decline.
Natural Gas Monthly
Sep 30, 2015
• This issue contains extensive revisions to 2013, 2014, and year-to-date 2015 data as a result of benchmarking to data published in the Natural Gas Annual 2014. These revisions primarily apply to statistics on production, underground storage, consumption, and prices by sector.
• Dry natural gas production in July was the highest for any month since EIA began reporting dry gas production data. Dry natural gas production has increased year-over-year for each month since March 2013; dry production has not decreased year-over-year for any month since February 2013. Preliminary dry natural gas production for July 2015 was 2,318 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 74.8 Bcf/day. This level was a 3.6 Bcf/day increase from production of 71.1 Bcf/day in July 2014, a 5.1% rise.
• July’s dry natural gas consumption level was the highest on record for the month, dating back to 2001. This was the sixth consecutive month that saw a record high level of consumption for the given month. Preliminary total natural gas consumption for July 2015 was 2,082 Bcf, or 67.2 Bcf/day. This level was an increase of 10.3% from 1,887 Bcf in July 2014, or 6.29 Bcf/day.
• For the fifth consecutive month, year-over-year total consumption of dry natural gas decreased in three of the four consuming sectors, with the exception being electric power deliveries, which again increased significantly year to year:
o Deliveries to residential consumers for July 2015 were 108 Bcf, or 3.5 Bcf/day, down 4.4% from 3.6 Bcf/day in July 2014. Residential consumption was the second-lowest level for the month on record, dating back to 1973.
o Commercial deliveries were 134 Bcf, or 4.3 Bcf/day, a 2.9% decrease from 4.5 Bcf/day in July 2014.
o Industrial deliveries were 591 Bcf, or 19.1 Bcf/day, down 2.0% from 19.5 Bcf/day in July 2014.
o Electric power deliveries were 1,046 Bcf, or 33.7 Bcf/day, a 23.9% rise from 27.2 Bcf/day in July 2014. July’s electric power consumption was the second-highest level for the month on record.
Norway Country Analysis Brief
Sep 30, 2015
Norway is Europe's largest petroleum liquids producer, and it provides much of the petroleum liquids and natural gas consumed on the continent. Norwegian petroleum and other liquids production, which has been declining since 2001, increased by about 50,000 barrels per day (b/d) in 2014 compared with 2013. Natural gas production, on the other hand, has increased nearly every year since 1993. However, investment in the oil and gas industry in Norway is declining, and this will lead to lower production in the future.
Alternative Fuel Vehicle Data

Testing Notice for the Changes to the Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report
Sep 29, 2015
As previously announced, EIA is preparing to change to new regions and revision thresholds for the Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report. Details and dates for public testing for the new file formats are now available. All file formats need to be tested and checked for the new changes. We anticipate coding changes will be needed for customers automatically scraping the data from any of these files.
Implementation of the new report changes is anticipated for later in 2015, pending the successful outcome of these scheduled public tests and further internal testing.

Mexico Country Analysis Brief
Sep 21, 2015
Mexico is one of the largest producers of petroleum and other liquids in the world and an important partner in U.S. energy trade. Mexico's crude oil production has steadily decreased since 2005; however, recent government reforms allow for greater outside investment with the goal of increasing oil and natural gas production once again.

Short-Term Energy Outlook - Market Prices and Uncertainty Report
Sep 9, 2015
Crude oil prices declined through most of August before rising at the end of the month and in the first week of September. The North Sea Brent front month futures price rose $1.16 per barrel (b) since August 3 to settle at $50.68/b on September 3. The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) front month futures price increased $1.58/b over the same period to settle at $46.75/b.
Short-Term Energy Outlook
Sep 9, 2015
North Sea Brent crude oil prices averaged $47/barrel (b) in August, a $10/b decrease from July. This third consecutive monthly decrease in prices likely reflects concerns about lower economic growth in emerging markets, expectations of higher oil exports from Iran, and continuing growth in global inventories. Crude oil price volatility increased significantly, with Brent prices showing daily changes of more than 5% for four consecutive trading days from August 27 to September 1, the longest such stretch since December 2008.
