Short-Term Energy Outlook Notice

Notice:  The Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO) we published on December 9, 2025, contained an error in our regional breakout of historical crude oil production. From August 2024 through September 2025, about 40,000 barrels per day, on average, of crude oil production from the Permian region was incorrectly included in the Rest of Lower 48 States region. The data will be corrected when we publish the next STEO on January 13, 2026. Please reach out to the STEO team if you have any questions.
