Near-month natural gas futures prices remain less than $3/MMBtu
Mar 27, 2019
Despite U.S. working natural gas stocks that in the past would have been low enough to cause market activity that resulted in very high prices, recent prices of natural gas in the United States remain relatively low. Increasing natural gas production in the United States is likely the key factor that has moderated natural gas price increases given the level of Lower 48 natural gas storage inventories.

Monthly Energy Review
Mar 26, 2019
The Monthly Energy Review is EIA's comprehensive report on recent and historical energy statistics. Preliminary data indicate that U.S. total primary energy consumption equaled 101 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu) in 2018. This total was the highest since at least 1949, the earliest year for which EIA has data. U.S. total primary energy production totaled 96 quadrillion Btu in 2018, which was also the highest total since at least 1949.
Working natural gas stocks decrease to all-time low in the Pacific region
Mar 26, 2019
Working gas stocks in the Pacific totaled 96 billion cubic feet (Bcf) for the week ending March 15, 2019—the lowest level ever reported for the region since implementation of the five-region model for the Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report (WNGSR), dating back to 2010. The previous lowest level reported for the Pacific region occurred in 2014, when working gas fell to 102 Bcf for the week ending March 28, 2014. The Pacific region is highly dependent on natural gas storage stocks because it has little indigenous natural production. The Pacific region imports most of its natural gas from distant supply basins in Western Canada, the Rocky Mountains, and the Southwest.

Algeria Country Analysis Brief
Mar 25, 2019
Algeria is a major crude oil and natural gas producer in Africa and has been an OPEC member since 1969. Algeria exports a large amount of its crude oil and natural gas production to Europe. Many of the crude oil fields in Algeria are mature, and the country is likely to see declines in production if additional upstream investment does not occur.

Working natural gas inventories in Southern California decrease to less than 36 billion cubic feet
Mar 12, 2019
Working natural gas inventories in the Southern California Natural Company (SoCalGas) storage system have decreased during the winter (November through March) to about 35.9 billion cubic feet (Bcf) as of March 11, down more than 50% from about 81 Bcf in early November 2018. Inventories are now historically low; only five winters since 2001 have seen natural gas inventories dip lower than current levels, according to the SoCalGas data on its public electronic bulletin board. SoCalGas natural gas stocks have not been as low as they are now since February 2014, when natural gas stocks fell materially throughout much of the country because of episodes of cold weather related to polar vortex weather conditions.
