Natural Gas Monthly

Oct 31, 2017
In August 2017, for the third consecutive month, dry natural gas production increased year-to-year from the same month a year ago. The preliminary level for dry natural gas production in August 2017 was 2,278 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 73.5 Bcf/day. This level was 1.2 Bcf/day (1.6%) higher than the August 2016 level of 72.3 Bcf/day.

Monthly Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production

Oct 31, 2017
These monthly production estimates are based on data from the EIA-914, Monthly Crude Oil, Lease Condensate, and Natural Gas Production Report.

2015 RECS Square Footage Methodology Published

Oct 31, 2017
The square footage, or size, of a home is an important characteristic in understanding its energy use. This comprehensive methodology report discusses how the 2015 RECS square footage estimates were produced.

More results from EIA’s 2015 Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS)

Oct 31, 2017
EIA has just released additional benchmark estimates from the 2015 Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS). This release includes 16 tables displaying total and average square footage for U.S. homes, tabulated by a variety of characteristics, as well as a data table on household energy insecurity and an updated microdata file.

One in three U.S. households faced challenges in paying energy bills in 2015

Oct 31, 2017
Nearly one-third of U.S. households (31%) reported facing a challenge in paying energy bills or sustaining adequate heating and cooling in their home in 2015, according to the most recent results from EIA’s Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS).

Monthly Solar Photovoltaic Module Shipments Report

Oct 30, 2017
This report contains newly collected monthly summary data beginning in January 2017 for the photovoltaic industry in the United States. The subset of respondents who now must report monthly represents approximately 90% of photovoltaic (PV) activity in the United States, based on prior year’s data. Data include manufacturing, imports, and exports of modules in the United States and its territories. Summary data include volumes in peak kilowatts and average prices. Where possible, imports and exports are listed by country, and shipments to the United States are listed by state.

South Africa Country Analysis Brief

Oct 26, 2017
South Africa produces small amounts of crude oil and natural gas and must rely on its domestic coal production to fuel its electricity sector and crude oil imports to feed its refineries. Additionally, South Africa has one of the world’s largest synthetic fuels industries and uses proprietary technology to convert coal and gas to liquid. South Africa has struggled with power shortages in recent years, which spurred development in electricity capacity fueled by coal and renewable energy over the past two years.

Monthly Energy Review

Oct 26, 2017
EIA's comprehensive report on recent integrated energy statistics. Preliminary data indicate that U.S. net imports of energy fell from 1.1 quadrillion Btu in July 2016 to 0.7 quadrillion Btu in July 2017, a 42% decrease.

State Carbon Dioxide Emissions Data

Oct 24, 2017
These estimates of energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) are based on the State Energy Data System. The state data include a summary table with total energy-related CO2 by state beginning in 1990, tables with emissions by all fuels and sectors in 2015, and additional tables for each fuel and sector with history going back to 1980. Detailed tables for individual states provide emissions by fuel and sector for data beginning in 1980. Oct 23, 2017
This report, the first of four Issues in Focus articles from the International Energy Outlook 2017, analyzes the effects of uncertainties in the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) on worldwide transportation energy consumption. Uncertainties surrounding consumer acceptance, vehicle cost, policies, and other market conditions could affect future adoption rates of plug-in electric vehicles. Two side cases are presented in this report that assume different levels of PEV adoption and result in different levels of worldwide transportation energy consumption.

U.S. manufacturing overall fuel intensity decreased by 4.4% from 3.016 thousand British thermal units (Btu) per dollar of output in 2010 to 2.882 thousand Btu in 2014. U.S. manufacturing fuel consumption rose 4.7% from 2010 to 2014, although real gross output increased more rapidly at 9.6%.

Drilling Productivity Report

Oct 16, 2017

Short-Term Energy Outlook

Oct 11, 2017
EIA forecasts that average household expenditures for all major home heating fuels will rise this winter because of expected colder weather and higher energy costs. Average increases vary by fuel, with natural gas expenditures forecast to rise by 12%, home heating oil by 17%, electricity by 8%, and propane by 18%. Most of the increase reflects expected colder weather rather than higher energy costs. A warmer-than-forecast winter would see lower increases in expenditures, and a colder-than-forecast winter would see higher increases in expenditures (Winter Fuels Outlook).

EIA releases new international consumption data sorted by end-use sector and fuel ›

We have released a new international dataset containing end-use consumption data for most countries of the world, with annual data through 2023. The new data set disaggregates the existing total international consumption values into up to 34 end-use sub-sectors, such as construction, mining, refining, residential, and commercial. Our end-use data set categorizes end-use consumption by region, country, fuel, sector, and sub-sector in which the energy is consumed. In the example above, we break down the fuels used in Europe to produce chemicals. More
