The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) offers the following resources and reports that include information related to unplanned outages or shutdowns of U.S. energy infrastructure.
- Energy Disruptions Maps show the geographic areas and energy infrastructure that could be affected by hurricanes, wildfires, and floods as those events occur.
- The Hourly Electric Grid Monitor provides up-to-the-hour information on electricity demand and supply across the U.S. electricity grid.
- The Electric Power Monthly (EPM) includes information on major disturbances and unusual occurrences that affect U.S. electricity supply in Table B1 and Table B2. Data for previous years are available in the EPM archives. The February editions contain the data for a complete year.
- Status of nuclear outages provides the operating status of U.S. nuclear power reactors on a daily basis.
- The Refinery Capacity Report shows new, shutdown, and reactivated refineries in Table 11.
EIA also publishes data on the reliability of electricity service in the United States in the Annual Electric Power Industry Report, Form EIA-861 data files. The Reliability file includes the System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI) and System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) of power outages experienced by U.S. electricity distribution utilities during a calendar year.
