Australia Country Analysis Brief
Mar 7, 2017
Australia, rich in energy commodities, is one of the world’s top producers and exporters of fossil fuels and uranium. The country’s stable political environment, relatively transparent regulatory structure, substantial hydrocarbon reserves, and its proximity to Asian markets make it an attractive location for investment in energy production and mining. Although, in the past few years, Australia’s energy projects, particularly LNG export facilities, have faced escalating costs, creating some challenges to companies developing hydrocarbon resources there.

In this issue of the PMM, preliminary data show prices for crude oil and refined products were on the rise during December. U.S.-level Prime Supplier data show sales of gasoline and distillates declined month-on-month, but remained above year-ago rates. Additionally, updated federal and state gasoline and diesel fuel tax information is available on the PMM website.
Refinery Outages: First Half 2017
Feb 28, 2017
EIA's latest analysis of planned refinery outages during the first half of 2017 finds that such outages are not expected to cause a shortfall in the supply of petroleum products including gasoline, jet fuel, and distillate fuel, relative to expected demand, either nationally or within any U.S. region. This result occurs notwithstanding the current high level of U.S. gasoline demand, which in 2016 was as high as or higher than in any past year.
