Monthly Energy Review

Unique Reactors

This general interest feature on the largest, oldest, newest, and strangest reactors was revised to include the "ML-1 Mobile Power System" (reactor in a box) as the 1965 entry and the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR). The ATR, described as a "virtual time machine," appears in a 1967 entry and again in 2004 (not because of time travel, but because of its 40th anniversary).

Electric Power Monthly

The latest issue is now available on EIA's Electricity page. The publication for November 2004 presents preliminary electricity sales and revenue data for the Transportation Sector for 2004. In January 2004, EIA revised its survey to specifically collect transportation data. These data consist primarily of electricity delivered to and consumed by local, regional and metropolitan mass transportation systems. Data being published in the November 2004 EPM include January through August monthly 2004 data. Comments on the Transportation data have also been included in the Technical Notes. Historical copies of the EPM tables in Excel format have also been posted on the EIA website, dating back to the May 2003 publication of the EPM. The Energy Information Administration is requesting comments on the pre-survey consultation Federal Register notice for an extension on the Voluntary Reporting of Greenhouse Gases surveys (Forms EIA-1605b and EIA-1605EZ). Comments should be submitted by January 7, 2005.

In 2025, the United States imported an average of 490,000 barrels per day (b/d) of crude oil from the Middle East Gulf region—Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Crude oil imports from the region are primarily medium sour grades of crude oil and flow mainly into the West Coast and Gulf Coast of the United States. More
