This issue provides detailed quarterly data for July-September 2005 and aggregated quarterly historical data for 1999 through the third quarter 2005 on the U.S. coal industry. Information includes: U.S. coal production, distribution, exports, imports, receipts, prices, consumption, stocks, and quality; and U.S. coke production, consumption, distribution, imports, and exports. All data for 2004 and prior years are final; all data for 2005 are preliminary. The "Quarterly Coal Report" is only available in electronic format on the EIA's Coal page. EIA's primary report of recent energy statistics: total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; and data unit conversions. Preliminary statistics show U.S. total energy production in September 2005 down 5% compared with September 2004; total energy consumption down 1%; and total energy net imports up 4%. MFE precedes the next issue of EPM by three weeks. The current issue covers an early review of the October electricity data.
