The latest Prime Supplier Report presents data collected through March 2011 on Form EIA-782C, "Monthly Report of Prime Supplier Sales of Petroleum Products Sold for Local Consumption." These data measure primary petroleum product deliveries into the States where they are locally marketed and consumed.

In March 2011, total electric power generation in the United States increased 1.2 percent compared to March 2010. The average U.S. retail price of electricity increased 1.1 percent in March 2011 compared to the previous year.

This is wholesale electricity price data from ICE (IntercontinentalExchange) through May 13, 2011. The files contain peak prices, volumes, and the number of transactions at six electricity trading hubs covering most regions of the United States.

Electric Power Monthly

This May issue includes data for February 2011, during which net generation in the United States fell 2.1 percent from the February 2010 level. Consumption of coal for power generation fell 8.1 percent compared to February 2010. The average retail price of electricity for February 2011 was 9.70 cents per kilowatthour, 1.9 percent higher than February 2010, when the price was 9.52 cents per kWh.

Quarterly Coal Distribution Report- 4th Quarter 2010

Quarterly coal distribution data for all years are preliminary and will be superseded by the release of the corresponding Annual Coal Distribution Report.

February monthly average crude oil prices rose in all categories of sales. In addition, monthly average prices for finished gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil, residual fuel oil, kerosene-type jet fuel, and propane continued to rise in February.

Natural Gas Monthly

The April issue of the NGM, featuring data for February 2011, is now available. U.S. marketed natural gas production in February showed a decrease of 1.7 percent, or 1.06 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d). Cold weather in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Wyoming was largely responsible for the decrease, which totaled 1.245 Bcf/d in these States.

Monthly natural gas gross withdrawals estimated from data collected on Form EIA-914 (Monthly Natural Gas Production Report) for Federal Offshore Gulf of Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming, Other States and Lower 48 States. Alaska data are from the State of Alaska and included to obtain a U.S. Total.

Alternatives to Traditional Transportation Fuels 2009

EIA publishes data on alternative fueled vehicles (AFVs) supplied each year as well as estimates on the total inventory of AFVs in use in the U.S. and the fuels they consume. In 2009, a total of 1,076,350 alternative fuel and hybrid vehicles were made available in the U.S., a 29% decrease from a year ago. The supply of E85 flexible fuel vehicles continues to dominate the vehicles market with nearly 75% of the total AFV and hybrid vehicles made available in 2009. EIA estimates an inventory of AFVs in use by fleets in the U.S. of 826,318 in 2009, 6.5% more than a year ago. The total alternative fuel consumption for 2009 is estimated at 431,107 thousand gasoline-equivalent gallons, up slightly from 2008.
