Annual Energy Outlook 2016
Sep 15, 2016
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) today released the full Annual Energy Outlook 2016 (AEO2016), which focuses on the factors expected to shape U.S. energy markets through 2040. The projections provide a basis for examination and discussion of energy market trends and serve as a starting point for analysis of potential changes in U.S. energy policies, rules, and regulations, as well as the potential role of advanced technologies.
State Energy Profiles: New monthly data for June and July 2016 and Energy Indicators annual data
Sep 15, 2016
New monthly data are available for electricity, petroleum, natural gas, and coal series. The Profiles also feature several updated Energy Indicators: 2015 data for gross domestic product (GDP), GDP for the manufacturing sector, and per capita personal income, and 2014 data for vehicle miles traveled.
Drilling Productivity Report
Sep 12, 2016
EIA’s monthly Drilling Productivity Report (DPR) has been released. The DPR takes a fresh look at oil and natural gas production, starting with an assessment of how and where drilling for hydrocarbons is taking place. It uses recent data on the total number of drilling rigs in operation along with estimates of drilling productivity and estimated changes in production from existing oil and natural gas wells to provide estimated changes in oil and natural gas production for seven key fields.
Short-Term Energy Outlook - Market Prices and Uncertainty Report
Sep 7, 2016
After reaching a four-month low in the beginning of August, crude oil prices rebounded close to the highest levels of the year. The front-month Brent crude oil price increased $3.31 per barrel (b) since August 1, settling at $45.45/b on September 1. The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) front-month crude oil price settled at $43.16/b, an increase of $3.10/b over the same period.
Short-Term Energy Outlook
Sep 7, 2016
Benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil spot prices averaged $46/barrel (b) in August, a $1/b increase from July. This was the fourth consecutive month in which Brent spot crude oil prices averaged between $44/b and $49/b.
Petroleum Marketing Monthly
Sep 1, 2016
The September 2016 Petroleum Marketing Monthly (PMM), with data through June 2016, presents monthly and annual price and volume statistics covering crude oil and refined products sales in the United States.
In this issue of the PMM, preliminary monthly data show prices for crude oil and finished petroleum products continued to rise in June. At the national level, Prime Supplier data show sales of gasoline, kerosene-type jet fuel, and distillate fuels increased from last month’s levels.
Weekly Petroleum Status Report Exports Notice
Aug 31, 2016
Today's publication on August 31, 2016 of the Weekly Petroleum Status Report (WPSR) is now estimating weekly exports using near-real-time data provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). While EIA collects data on inventories, refinery and terminal operations, and imports, EIA does not collect any export data. To estimate weekly exports, EIA had previously relied on models using official monthly export data published by the U.S. Census Bureau (USCB) roughly six weeks following the end of each reporting month. Our new methodology using near-real-time CBP data provides a more accurate estimate of U.S. crude oil, petroleum products, and biofuels exports to better inform EIA's weekly estimates of domestic petroleum products supplied, a proxy for domestic consumption. For more information on this new methodology, please see Appendix D in the WPSR Explanatory Notes.
Petroleum Supply Monthly
Aug 31, 2016
Supply and disposition of crude oil and petroleum products on a national and regional level. The data series describe production, imports and exports, movements, and inventories.
Monthly Biodiesel Production Report
Aug 31, 2016
The U.S. Energy Information Administration released new data today showing national and regional monthly biodiesel production for June 2016. In addition to biodiesel production, data included producer sales, producer stocks, and feedstock inputs.
U.S. Movements of Crude Oil By Rail
Aug 31, 2016
Monthly data on rail movements of crude oil have been updated for June 2016. Crude oil movements by rail have significantly increased over the past five years. The new data on crude-by-rail (CBR) movements are also fully integrated with EIA’s existing monthly petroleum supply statistics, which already include crude oil movements by pipeline, tanker, and barge.
Monthly Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production
Aug 31, 2016
These monthly production estimates are based on data from the EIA-914, Monthly Crude Oil, Lease Condensate, and Natural Gas Production Report.
Company Level Imports
Aug 31, 2016
Imports data at the company level collected from the EIA-814 Monthly Imports Report.
Natural Gas Monthly
Aug 31, 2016
• In June 2016, for the third consecutive month, dry natural gas production decreased year-to-year for the same month in 2015. Preliminary dry natural gas production for June 2016 was 2,167 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 72.2 Bcf/day. This level was a 1.9 Bcf/day (2.6%) decrease from the June 2015 level of 74.1 Bcf/day.
• Preliminary dry natural gas consumption for June 2016 was 2,026 Bcf, or 67.5 Bcf/day. This level was an increase of 5.7%, or 3.7 Bcf/day, from the 1,916 Bcf consumed in June 2015.
• Year-over-year total consumption of dry natural gas in June increased in three of the four consuming sectors, with the exception being residential deliveries, which decreased year-to-year. Deliveries of natural gas by consuming sector in June 2016 were as follows:
o Residential deliveries in June 2016 were 123 Bcf, or 4.10 Bcf/day, down 0.8% from 4.13 Bcf/day in June 2015. Residential deliveries were the lowest for the month since EIA began tracking them in 1973, in part because temperatures in the Lower 48 states in June were the warmest on record.
o Commercial deliveries were 139 Bcf, or 4.6 Bcf/day, up 3.0% from 4.5 Bcf/day in June 2015.
o Industrial deliveries were 593 Bcf, or 19.8 Bcf/day, up 3.9% from 19.0 Bcf/day in June 2015. Industrial deliveries were the highest for the month since 2002.
o Electric power deliveries were 977 Bcf, or 32.6 Bcf/day, up 9.4% from 29.8 Bcf/day in June 2015. Electric power deliveries were the highest for the month since EIA began tracking them in 2001.
