Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey: Water Consumption in Large Buildings, 2012

Feb 9, 2017
Using water consumption data from the Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS), EIA estimates that the 46,000 large commercial buildings (greater than 200,000 square feet) used about 359 billion gallons of water (980 million gallons per day) in 2012. On average, these buildings used 7.9 million gallons per building, 20 gallons per square foot, and 18,400 gallons per worker in 2012. The types of buildings that are the most intensive water users are inpatient healthcare buildings, public order and safety buildings (which include prisons) and lodging buildings (which include hotels). For the second time in its history, EIA has collected water usage data through the CBECS.

Short-Term Energy Outlook

Feb 7, 2017
U.S. crude oil production averaged an estimated 8.9 million b/d in 2016. U.S crude oil production is forecast to average 9.0 million b/d in 2017 and 9.5 million b/d in 2018.

Turkey Country Analysis Brief

Feb 2, 2017
Turkey is a growing energy importer, and since 2010, it has experienced some of the fastest growth in total energy demand among countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Turkey is also an increasingly important transit hub for oil and natural gas supplies as they move from Central Asia, Russia, and the Middle East to Europe and other Atlantic markets.

Japan Country Analysis Brief

Feb 2, 2017
Japan is one of the largest global importers of hydrocarbons as a result of limited domestic energy resources and a high level of energy consumption. After the Fukushima nuclear incident in early 2011 and delays in returning nuclear power generation, the country has become more dependent on fossil fuels and, to a lesser extent, renewable energy for its electricity use.

Petroleum Marketing Monthly

Feb 1, 2017
The February 2017 Petroleum Marketing Monthly (PMM), with data through November 2016, presents monthly and annual price and volume statistics covering crude oil and refined products sales in the United States. In this edition of the PMM, preliminary data show prices for crude oil and refined products declined during November. With the exception of residual fuel oil, U.S.-level Prime Supplier data show sales of the major refined products were above their year-ago levels.

U.S. ethane exports are expected to grow through 2026 ›

U.S. ethane exports are poised for significant growth through 2026, driven by robust global demand for ethane as a petrochemical feedstock, substantial U.S. export capacity expansions, and larger vessels to carry ethane exports. In our October Short-Term Energy Outlook, we forecast U.S. ethane net exports will grow 14% in 2025, followed by a 16% rise in 2026. The United States does not import ethane. More
