Duties

Marc Cree serves as EIA’s Chief Information Officer and Director for the Office of Information Technology, providing strategic direction, operations, and security of the agency’s enterprise IT portfolio. In this role, he leads efforts to advance EIA’s technology investments, cybersecurity posture, cloud operations, and digital optimization in support of EIA’s mission.

Biography

Marc brings over 20 years of technology leadership experience across public and private sectors. He previously served as EIA’s Deputy Chief Information Officer, working on significant cloud adoption, DEVSECOPs principles, and cybersecurity maturation. He helped lead EIA’s transition to a commercial cloud infrastructure and Tier 4 data center, reduced accumulated technical debt through disciplined evolution of platforms, and improved the agency’s cybersecurity posture. During an earlier EIA tenure, Marc served as Team Leads for Infrastructure Management and User Services, Application Development, and Strategic Planning and Governance, experiences that shaped his collaborative, team-centered approach to technology leadership.

Marc has also served as a FedRAMP Subject Matter Expert and Principal Manager for Product Governance, Risk, and Compliance at a leading cloud security firm, where he worked with cross-functional teams to advance enterprise compliance strategy, continuous monitoring, and Authorization to Operate sustainment. Before that, he spent nearly a decade with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) serving as Platform Owner and Technical Lead for DOE’s Project Assessment and Reporting System (PARS)—an enterprise platform supporting Earned Value Management data and national security construction oversight.

Marc has held senior leadership roles in the private sector, where he developed a strong foundation in operational management, workforce development, and organizational accountability. He holds a BS in justice studies from Frostburg State University in Maryland.
