In the state summary table, the United States adjusted total row and the unadjusted state total row have been reserved. The direction of the adjustment is however correct. For example, in 2017 the state unadjusted total is 5,166 million metric tons (MMmt) of carbon dioxide (CO2). This value is 33 MMmt greater than the United States total value that appears in the Monthly Energy Review for July 2019, Section 11. The adjustment (-33 MMmt) is correctly allocated to each state in proportion to its total energy-related CO2 emissions..
