About the workshop

  • The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) held a workshop on international electricity modeling on January 15, 2015. This workshop explored topics related to a new International Electricity Market Model (IEMM) that EIA will be developing for incorporation into the World Energy Projection System Plus, the primary tool used to produce EIA's International Energy Outlook (IEO). Additional details of the IEMM are included in this background document. The workshop brought together experts from the electric power modeling community to discuss approaches, methods, and technical considerations for improved international electricity models and projections.
