Historic electric utility data files include information on net generation, fuel consumption, fuel stocks, prime mover and fuel type. Data sources are surveys -- Form EIA-906, "Power Plant Report" and Form EIA-759, "Monthly Power Plant Report."

Beginning with 1996, two separate files are available for each year:

• Monthly (M) data submitted by those respondents required to file monthly survey responses with monthly estimates for those respondents only required to submit the annual survey response. The file also includes for each State: a record for utility ID = "99999" and plant code = "9999" containing data values which represent the arithmetic differences between the "estimated" State totals and the sum of the net generation, consumption, and ending stocks data reported by the respondents on the form. • Annual (A) file contains data submitted by those respondents required to file monthly survey responses, and annual data for those respondents only required to submit one annual survey response. No estimation procedures are involved. ASCII text layout file (annual): F759layout_u.txt.
