Prime Supplier Report

Nov 22, 2016
The latest Prime Supplier Report presents data collected through September 2016 on Form EIA-782C, "Monthly Report of Prime Supplier Sales of Petroleum Products Sold for Local Consumption." These data measure primary petroleum product deliveries into the states where they are locally marketed and consumed.

Updated Capital Cost Estimates for Utility Scale Electricity Generating Plants

Nov 22, 2016
The current and future projected cost and performance characteristics of new electric generating capacity are a critical input into the development of energy projections and analyses.

Electric Power Annual 2015

Nov 21, 2016
The Electric Power Annual 2015 (EPA 2015) report is now available with final data through 2015. The 2015 EPA presents 11 years (2005-15) of national-level data on electricity generating capacity, electricity generation and useful thermal output, fuel receipts, consumption, and emissions.

Southern California Daily Energy Report

Nov 21, 2016
EIA’s Southern California Daily Energy Report has been updated to provide additional information on key energy market indicators for the winter season. This dashboard report includes information that EIA regularly compiles about energy operations and the management of natural gas and electricity systems in Southern California in the aftermath of a leak at the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility near Los Angeles. Although the leak has since been plugged, regulators have placed ongoing limitations on the use of that facility.

State Energy Profiles: New monthly data for all states and updated Quick Facts and analytical narratives for four states

Nov 17, 2016
New August and September 2016 monthly data are available for electricity, petroleum, natural gas, and coal. The profiles also feature updated analytical narratives and Quick Facts for Idaho, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.

Refinery Outages: Fall 2016

Nov 16, 2016
This report examines U.S. refinery outages planned for September 2016 through December 2016 and the implications for available refinery production capacity, petroleum product markets, and the supply of gasoline, diesel fuel, and jet fuel. Dissemination of such analyses can be beneficial to market participants who may otherwise be unable to access such information.

Annual Coal Distribution Report 2015

Nov 14, 2016
The Annual Coal Distribution Report provides detailed information on U.S. domestic coal distribution for 2015 excluding waste coal and imports by coal origin state, destination state, mode of transportation, and coal consuming sector. Also, the report provides a summary of foreign coal distribution by coal-exporting state. All data for 2015 are final and this report supersedes the data published in all quarterly coal distribution reports during 2015.

Drilling Productivity Report

Nov 14, 2016
EIA’s monthly Drilling Productivity Report (DPR) has been released. The DPR takes a fresh look at oil and natural gas production, starting with an assessment of how and where drilling for hydrocarbons is taking place. It uses recent data on the total number of drilling rigs in operation along with estimates of drilling productivity and estimated changes in production from existing oil and natural gas wells to provide estimated changes in oil and natural gas production for seven key fields.

Updated Buildings Sector Appliance and Equipment Costs and Efficiency

Nov 9, 2016
EIA works with technology experts to project the cost and efficiency of future HVAC, lighting, and other major end-use equipment rather than developing residential and commercial technology projections in-house. These reports have always been available by request. By providing the reports online, EIA is increasing transparency for some of the most important assumptions used for our AEO projections of buildings energy demand.

Short-Term Energy Outlook

Nov 8, 2016
U.S. crude oil production averaged 9.4 million barrels per day (b/d) in 2015, and it is forecast to average 8.8 million b/d in 2016 and 8.7 million b/d in 2017. Forecast production in 2017 is more than 0.1 million b/d higher than in last month's STEO.

Annual Coal Report

Nov 3, 2016
The Annual Coal Report (ACR) provides annual data on U.S. coal production, number of mines, productive capacity, recoverable reserves, employment, productivity, consumption, stocks, and prices. All data for 2015 and prior years are final.

State Carbon Dioxide Emissions

Nov 3, 2016
These estimates of energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) are based on the State Energy Data System. The state CO2 data include a summary table with total energy-related CO2 by state beginning in 1990, a table with emissions by fuel in 2014 and a table with emissions by sector in 2014. There are additional tables by fuels and sectors for all states across time. Detailed tables for individual states provide emissions by fuel and sector for data beginning in 1980. Documentation for methodology is also included on the page.

Kuwait Country Analysis Brief

Nov 2, 2016
As a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Kuwait was the world's 10th-largest producer of petroleum and other liquids in 2015, and it was the fifth-largest producer of crude oil among the 14 OPEC members. Despite its relatively small geographic size (about 6,900 square miles), in terms of production, it only trailed Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates in production of petroleum and other liquids in 2015.

Petroleum Marketing Monthly

Nov 1, 2016
The November 2016 Petroleum Marketing Monthly (PMM), with data through August 2016, presents monthly and annual price and volume statistics covering crude oil and refined products sales in the United States. In this issue of the PMM, preliminary August data show crude oil prices continued to decline, while prices for refined products show mixed trends. At the national level, Prime Supplier data show sales of the major petroleum products rose from July levels.

Electricity generation from solar could exceed coal in ERCOT for the first time in 2026 ›

In our most recent Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), we forecast that annual electric power generation from utility-scale solar will surpass that from coal for the first time in 2026 within the electricity grid that covers most of Texas. Solar generation is expected to reach 78 billion kilowatthours (BkWh) in 2026 in the electricity grid operated by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) compared with 60 BkWh for coal.
