Oct 11, 2023 Saudi Arabia was the world’s third-highest crude oil and condensate producer, the world’s top crude oil exporter, and OPEC’s top crude oil producer in 2022. Saudi Arabia accounts for 43% (0.5 million b/d) of agreed on OPEC+ production cuts that began in May 2023 intended to rebalance the global oil market, hedge against downside risks of decreased oil demand, and raise falling crude oil prices. At the same time, Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 supports extensive renewable energy and nonassociated natural gas development throughout the country and seeks to decrease oil- and associated natural gas-fired electricity generation in favor of renewable-sourced generation.
Oct 11, 2023 Winter Fuels Outlook. This month we are publishing our Winter Fuels Outlook, which discusses our expectations of household energy consumption and expenditures for the upcoming 2023–24 winter season. We expect U.S. households that use natural gas, electricity, or propane as their main heating fuel to spend less on heating this winter compared with last winter. Households that use heating oil are expected to spend slightly more.
Oct 5, 2023 This page presents spreadsheets with retail sales and revenue data from the 2022 Form EIA-861, Annual Electric Power Industry Report, most recently updated on October 5, 2023. Oct 5, 2023 This site contains annual historical spreadsheets with electricity sales, revenue, customers, and price data from ultimate customers from the 2022 Form EIA-861. The files contain state-level and U.S. total-level data for electricity sales, revenue, and customer and price, by sector. The data cover the 50 states and the District of Columbia. We recently reformatted files into one spreadsheet- down from four spreadsheets. New data were added from 1960–1989. The series was also broken into 3 time periods; 1960–1989, 1990–2009 and 2010 –present.
Oct 5, 2023 This site contains spreadsheets with wholesale electricity and natural gas data from eight major trading hubs that cover most regions of the United States. The data are through October 3, 2023, and are republished, with permission, from the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).

Oct 3, 2023 The Annual Coal Distribution Report (ACDR) provides detailed information on U.S. domestic coal distribution data (excluding waste coal and imports) for 2022 by coal-origin state, coal-destination state, mode of transportation, and consuming sector. In addition, the report summarizes foreign coal distribution by coal-producing state. All data for 2022 are final, and this report supersedes the data published in the four Quarterly Coal Distribution Reports previously issued for 2022.
Oct 3, 2023 The Annual Coal Report (ACR) provides annual data on U.S. coal production, number of mines, productive capacity, recoverable reserves, employment, productivity, consumption, stocks, and prices. All data for 2022 and previous years are final.
Oct 2, 2023 U.S. coal production during the second quarter of 2023 totaled 142.3 million short tons (MMst), which was 4.3% lower than the previous quarter and 1.6% lower than the second quarter of 2022. Second-quarter 2023 U.S. coal exports (24.1 MMst) decreased 2.1% from the first-quarter 2023 level and increased 2.9% from the second-quarter 2022 level. U.S. coal imports in the second quarter of 2023 totaled 1 MMst. All data for 2021 and previous years are final. All data for 2022 and 2023 are preliminary.

Sep 26, 2023 The Monthly Energy Review (MER) is our comprehensive report on recent and historical energy statistics. Beginning with the September 2023 MER, we have updated the way we calculate primary energy consumption of electricity generation from noncombustible renewable energy sources (solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal). We will now calculate consumption of noncombustible renewable energy for electricity generation using the captured energy approach, which applies a constant conversion factor of 3,412 British thermal units per kilowatthour (Btu/kWh), the heat content of electricity. This approach is a change from our current methodology, called the fossil fuel equivalency approach. The captured energy approach is more consistent with international energy statistics standards than the fossil fuel equivalency approach. See Changes to the Monthly Energy Review and MER Appendix E for more information.
