Early release of 2025 Annual Electric Generator Report data

Jun 9, 2026
This early release includes individual plant and generator data. However, we have not fully edited the data, and so these data are inappropriate for aggregation, such as to state or national totals. We have withheld some data from this early release pending further validation. We will release final 2025 data in September.

Short-Term Energy Outlook

Jun 9, 2026
Global oil production. We make the assumption that the Strait of Hormuz will remain effectively closed in the near term. In our forecast, oil shipments through the strait resume in the third quarter of 2026 (3Q26), however, we assume that it will likely take several months to ramp up to pre-conflict traffic, which we do not think will occur until early 2027. We expect some oil production in the Middle East to remain disrupted beyond the Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO) forecast.

Metered electricity demand in the New York ISO falls midday because of small-scale solar ›

An increase in electricity generation from small-scale solar in New York has decreased the midday demand for metered electricity, amid overall declining load in the state. The trend is particularly notable in the early spring (March and April), when solar generation has an outsized impact because demand is relatively low and conditions for solar generation are favorable.
