Energy Market Impacts of a Clean Energy Portfolio Standard
Jun 30, 2006
This report responds to a request from Senator Norm Coleman that the Energy Information Administration (EIA) analyze a proposed clean energy resources policy. The proposal requires retail electric suppliers to account for an increasing fraction of incremental sales growth with clean energy resources, including nonhydro renewable resources, new hydroelectric or nuclear resources, fuel cells, or an integrated gasification combined-cycle plant that sequesters its carbon emissions.

review. Therefore, data in the International Energy Annual 2004 may have been
substantially revised relative to previous editions. (2) In this edition, we have also changed
the names of and the countries included in two of our geographic regions (Western Europe changed
to Europe and Eastern Europe & Former U.S.S.R. changed to Eurasia) and added the country of
East Timor to the Asia and Oceania region.
