Acquistions and Divestitures by Foreign Direct Investors in U.S. Energy 2005

Today the Energy Information Administration released the Acquisitions and Divestitures by Foreign Direct Investors in U.S. Energy 2005 report. This report reviews acquisitions of U.S. energy assets by foreign investors in 2005. Foreign direct acquisitions are purchases, directly or indirectly, by the original foreign investor resulting in the ownership of 10 percent or more of the voting securities of an incorporated U.S. business enterprise or the equivalent interest in an unincorporated U.S. business.

U.S. Carbon Dioxide Emissions from Energy Sources 2006 Flash Estimate

The flash estimate is based on data published in the Energy Information Administration's Monthly Energy Review (April 2007). These estimates are considered to be preliminary. More detailed estimates of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from all sources, energy and non-energy, will appear in the report Emissions of Greenhouse Gases in the United States, 2006, which is scheduled to be released in November 2007. The latest report for all greenhouse gases and sources is still available.

International Energy Outlook 2007

This report provides an assessment of international energy markets with projections of worldwide energy production and consumption by fuel type and region to the year 2030. The report also provides projections of energy-related carbon dioxide emisions by source.

Monthly Flash Estimate (MFE)

The May, 2007 issue of the Monthly Flash Estimate (MFE) of Electric Power Data is now available on EIA's Electricity page. MFE provides an early look at the highlights of the upcoming Electric Power Monthly publication and presents tables of electricity generation, fuel consumption for generation, fossil fuel stocks, and average retail sales and prices of electricity. MFE precedes the next issue of EPM by three weeks. The current issue covers an early review of the March, 2007 electricity data. The publication is available both in PDF and Excel formats and can be accessed at the following address:

In the first quarter of 2007, the average number of rotary rigs drilling in the United States (primarily for crude oil and natural gas) stood at 1,734, 14 percent more than the average in the first quarter of 2006 and 36 percent more than the average in the first quarter of 2005. Largest wind farm in the United States slated to begin commercial operations ›

The SunZia Wind Project, the largest wind farm in the United States, is slated to begin commercial operations this month. The wind farm, located in New Mexico, has a total net summer generating capacity of 3,650 megawatts (MW) and is composed of 916 wind turbines. SunZia’s capacity is more than three times larger than the next two largest wind farms, Alta Wind in southern California (1,098 MW) and Great Prairie in northern Texas (1,027 MW). The SunZia Wind Project works with a high voltage transmission line to deliver the wind power generated to Arizona and California. More
