Federal Register Notice Published for Electric Power Forms

The Federal Register carried the announcement of proposed collection changes to forms used to collect electric power industry data in the United States. The announcement opens up a sixty-day comment period when interested parties may respond to the proposals with comments by June 4, 2007. Annual Energy Outlook Retrospective Review: Evaluation of Projections in Past Editions

This paper produces a comparison between realized energy outcomes and the projections included in previous editions of the AEO. Each year, the comparison adds the projections from the most recent AEO and updates the historical data to the most recently available. The comparison summarizes the relationship of the AEO reference case projections since 1982 to realized outcomes by calculating the average absolute percent differences for several of the major variables for AEO82 through AEO2006.

EIA's primary report of recent energy statistics: total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; and data unit conversions. This months report includes the first complete set of preliminary 2006 total energy statistics: U.S. total energy production at 70.8 quadrillion Btu (up 2.1% compared with 2005); U.S. net imports of energy at 29.5 quadrillion Btu (down 2.0%); and U.S. total energy consumption at 99.7 quadrillion Btu (down 0.8%). Quarterly Coal Report (QCR) - 4th Quarter 2006

Provides detailed quarterly coal data for October-December 2006 and aggregated quarterly historical coal data for 2000 through 4th quarter 2006. All data for 2005 and prior years are final. For 2006, coking coal consumption, exports, and imports data are final; all other data are preliminary. A data element was added for waste coal supplied in Table 1, resulting in a recalculation of the Losses and Unaccounted For column/data. Table 38, Distribution of Coal Synfuel, is being withheld in this report; it will be published at a later date. View an on-line summary of the publication.

IEA Quarterly Coal Questionnaire (QCQ) - 4th Quarter 2006

Provides detailed quarterly information about U.S. coal production by rank of coal for the 4th Quarter 2006. This information is submitted each quarter to the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris, France. All data are estimates and/or preliminary until released in the EIA "Annual Coal Report" for the corresponding year.

The March, 2007 issue of the Monthly Flash Estimate (MFE) of Electric Power Data is now available on EIA's Electricity Publications page. MFE provides an early look at the highlights of the upcoming Electric Power Monthly publication and presents tables of electricity generation, fuel consumption for generation, fossil fuel stocks, and average retail sales and prices of electricity. MFE precedes the next issue of EPM by three weeks. The current issue covers an early review of the January, 2007 electricity data.
