data on coal origin by MSHA ID, mercury content, and commodity cost. Beginning
with 2nd Quarter 2011, data on co-firing fuels and carbon capture equipment will be included from the EIA-3 survey. Form EIA-5 data will include the heat content of
coal. U.S. coal production in the 3rd Quarter 2011 totaled 274.6 million short tons. Coal exports dropped by 3.8 percent to 26.0 million short tons from 27.0 million short tons in the 2nd Quarter 2011.
