The map displays solar, geothermal, and wind energy potential; indicators of hydroelectric, biomass, and wood energy potential; and the geographic location of all renewable energy power plants with a net summer capacity of 1 megawatt or more.

Electric Sales and Revenue 2000

This report is now available on EIA's Electricity page. This report presents information on electricity retail sales, associated revenue, and consumer information at the utility level for each electric utility in the United States, the Territories, and the Dominion of Puerto Rico. For the first time, the report presents information on the costs to consumers of delivery services provided by traditional distribution utilities in deregulated markets, as well as energy sales by retail Energy Service Providers in restructured markets (Appendix C). This Week in Petroleum

This Week in Petroleum (TWIP), a new weekly web product which provides analysis, data, and charts of the latest weekly petroleum supply and price data. TWIP will generally be available at 1:00 pm Eastern Time on Wednesdays. TWIP will replace five products: the Petroleum Market Report, the Crude Oil Watch, the Motor Gasoline Watch, the Distillate Watch, and the Propane Watch.

Updated Monthly Time Series Data, by State

On the US Map click on the desired State and then the data; Or, from the right column of the EIA States page you can go directly to the EIA Monthly Time Series Data for each State. They start from January 1996 to October 2001 for petroleum products and September 2001 for NG. Five time series are accessible: (1) Petroleum Product Prices, (2) Petroleum Product Sales, (3) Petroleum Product Stocks, (4) Natural Gas Prices, (5) Natural Gas Production and Sales. The data are extracted from the Oil and Gas Information Retrieval System (OGIRS).

Financial Reporting System Public Data

Today EIA released the latest publicly available data from The Financial Reporting System (FRS) database. These spreadsheet files that can be downloaded from EIA's ftp server, contain disclosure-free aggregate financial and operating data that EIA collects annually from the major, U.S.-based energy companies. The data cover the years 1977 through 2000, and are organized by the EIA-28 survey form schedules.

Emerging issues in financial performance are also analyzed. The report primarily examines these companies¿ (the majors¿) operations on a consolidated corporate level, by individual lines of business, by major functions within each line-of-business, and by various geographic regions.

U.S. coal-fired generating capacity retired in 2025 was the least in 15 years ›

During 2025, the U.S. electric power sector retired 2.6 gigawatts (GW) of coal-fired generating capacity at four power plants, the least since 2010. At the beginning of 2025, coal plant operators had planned to retire 8.5 GW of capacity; however, 4.8 GW of planned retirements were delayed to a future year, and the operators of two coal plants (1.1 GW) cancelled plans to retire. In addition, the operators of 1.2 GW of capacity planned for retirement in 2027 cancelled their closure plans, and a facility slated to retire in 2026 has delayed its closure until 2029. More
