Financial Reporting System Public Data, 1977-2003

Today the Energy Information Administration released the latest financial and operating data that it collects from the major U.S. energy companies on its Financial Reporting System (FRS)Form EIA-28. The survey data system
reviews the functional performance of the major U.S. energy-producing companies in total, and by the following lines of business: petroleum, coal, non-conventional energy, non-energy, and beginning in 2003, downstream natural gas and electric power.
The data are in excel spreadsheet files, and are located on EIA's ftp server for easy downloading. The files have been updated to include the latest year of data, 2003, so that now the series covers the years 1977-2003.

EIA Releases January Monthly Flash Estimates of Electric Power Data

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) released January electric power data in the Monthly Flash Estimates of Electric Power Data. The report presents national-level data and charts for the reference month, as well as the previous month, year-to-date summation, and rolling 12-month information for electricity generation, fuel consumption, fuel stocks, electricity sales and revenue, and average retail electricity prices. This month¿s report shows that generation in January 2005 was an estimated 1 percent lower than in January 2004. The main reason for this decline appears to be relatively mild weather (heating degree-days in January 2005 were 11 percent lower than in January 2004). Generation for the current rolling 12-month period (February 2004 through January 2005) is up 1.6 percent compared to the prior rolling 12-month period (February 2003 through January 2004). Quarterly Coal Report: October - December 2004

Data being published include final data collected on the EIA-3, "Quarterly Coal Consumption and Quality Report - Manufacturing Plants" and EIA-5, "Quarterly Coal Consumption and Quality Report - Coke Plants." Today the Energy Information Administration released the Financial News for Independent Energy Companies for October through December 2004. The report reviews recent trends in the financial performance of independent energy companies, which are typically smaller than the majors and do not have integrated production/refining operations. The next update, for January through March 2005, will be released in June 2005.

Request for Comments on DOE¿s Electric Power System Emergency Incident and Disturbance Report

The Department of Energy is soliciting comments on Form EIA-417, ¿Emergency Incident and Disturbance Report.¿ The Form, sponsored by DOE¿s Office of Electricity and Energy Assurance (EEA), is being revised and will be renumbered as the EEA-417. Comments must be filed by May 16, 2005.

Today the Energy Information Administration (EIA) released Performance Profiles of Major Energy Producers 2003, a legislatively mandated annual report to the U.S. Congress. Performance Profiles 2003 presents a comprehensive financial review and analysis of the domestic and worldwide
operations of the major U.S.-based energy-producing companies. Emerging issues in financial performance are also analyzed. The report examines the majors¿ operations primarily on a consolidated corporate level, by individual lines of business, by major functions within each
line-of-business, and by various geographic regions.
