This Internet only report presents a summary of the key State statistics for 2001 contrasted with 1996 and 1992. The tables present summary statistics; ten largest plants by generating capacity; top five utilites ranked by retail sales; electric power industry generating capacity by primary energy source; electric power industry generation by primary energy source; utility delivered fuel prices for coal, petroleum, and natural gas; electric power emissions estimates; retail sales, revenue, and average revenue per kilowatthour by sector; and utility retail sales statistics. Monetary values in this publication are expressed in real dollars (index=2001).

This paper describes the responses of the Annual Energy Outlook 2003 (AEO2003) versions of the Energy Information Administration's (EIA's) National Energy Modeling System (NEMS) Residential and Commercial Demand Models to changes in energy prices, updating the results reported previously for the Annual Energy Outlook 1999 (AEO99) versions of the models.

EIA's Monthly Petroleum Product Time Series Data, by State, have been updated. Four sets of petroleum products time series have been updated: (1) Prices, (2) Sales -- Transportation Fuels, (3) Sales -- Other Fuels, (4)Stocks. The series start from January 1998 and go through July 2003. The data are extracted from the Oil and Gas Information Resource System (OGIRS). Click on the desired State on the US Map and then select the desired time series under Petroleum; Or, from the right column of the EIA States page you can go directly to the EIA Monthly Time Series Data for each State.

Short-Term Energy Outlook PC Model

The short-term forecasting model has been updated to the October base case data. The model provides simulations of supply, demand, and price for the major fuels through 2004 based on the October short-term forecast. In addition the assumptions behind the base forecast can be changed to show the effects of higher or lower world prices; colder or warmer weather. The results of each variation are generated in a spreadsheet for each major fuel.

Rooftop solar photovoltaic systems account for 20% of Puerto Rico’s capacity mix ›

Rooftop solar generating capacity in Puerto Rico totaled 1,456 megawatts (MW) at the end of 2025, 20% of the overall capacity mix. Rooftop solar capacity has increased faster than other sources over the past decade. Between 2016 and 2025 rooftop solar installations accounted for 81% of the new generating capacity in Puerto Rico, according to data from our Electric Power Monthly and Puerto Rico Energy Bureau’s (PREB) Quarterly Report on System Data. In 2025, rooftop solar became the second-largest capacity source, after petroleum liquids capacity (3,671 MW), and surpassed natural gas capacity (1,391 MW). More
