Nuclear Generation by State, by Reactor

According to preliminary data, U.S. nuclear output continues to outpace that of 2003 and the record year of 2002. In October 2004, both the monthly total and the cumulative total were 4 percent higher than in 2003.
Electric Power Monthly

The latest issue is now available on EIA's Electricity page. The publication for December 2004 presents preliminary electricity sales and revenue data for the Transportation Sector for 2004. In January 2004, EIA revised its survey to specifically collect transportation data. These data consist primarily of electricity delivered to and consumed by local, regional and metropolitan mass transportation systems. Data being published in the December 2004 EPM include January through September monthly 2004 data. Comments on the Transportation data have also been included in the Technical Notes.
Historical copies of the EPM tables in Excel format have also been posted on the EIA website, dating back to the May 2003 publication of the EPM. These files can be accessed at the following address:

State Energy Consumption Estimates, 1960-2001

This update of the State energy consumption data by end-use sector and fuel type includes the EIA-wide revisions for 1989 forward in the reporting of nonutility power producers and electric utilities consumption together in a new electric power sector.

Reviews recent financial performance of major U.S. energy companies. Data presented are for July through September 2004. During this period the majors reported overall net income of $16.4 billion on revenues of $231.0 billion. The level of net income was 56 percent higher than during the same period of 2003. Early Release of the Annual Energy Outlook 2005

The AEO2005 presents midterm forecasts of energy supply, demand, and prices through 2025, which are based on results from EIA¿s National Energy Modeling System (NEMS). The AEO2005 Early Release includes the reference case and an alternative oil price case, the October oil futures case. The full publication, to be released in early 2005, will include complete documentation and additional cases examining energy markets.

This general interest feature on the largest, oldest, newest, and strangest reactors was revised to include the "ML-1 Mobile Power System" (reactor in a box) as the 1965 entry and the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR). The ATR, described as a "virtual time machine," appears in a 1967 entry and again in 2004 (not because of time travel, but because of its 40th anniversary).
