Request for Comments on DOE¿s Electric Power System Emergency Incident and Disturbance Report

The Department of Energy is soliciting comments on Form EIA-417, ¿Emergency Incident and Disturbance Report.¿ The Form, sponsored by DOE¿s Office of Electricity and Energy Assurance (EEA), is being revised and will be renumbered as the EEA-417. Comments must be filed by May 16, 2005.

The latest EPM issue is now available on EIA's Electricity page. Data being published in the March 2005 EPM include January through December monthly 2004 data. Historical copies of the EPM tables in Excel format have also been posted on the EIA website, dating back to the May 2003 publication of the EPM. Today the Energy Information Administration (EIA) released Performance Profiles of Major Energy Producers 2003, a legislatively mandated annual report to the U.S. Congress. Performance Profiles 2003 presents a comprehensive financial review and analysis of the domestic and worldwide
operations of the major U.S.-based energy-producing companies. Emerging issues in financial performance are also analyzed. The report examines the majors¿ operations primarily on a consolidated corporate level, by individual lines of business, by major functions within each
line-of-business, and by various geographic regions.

According to preliminary data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), the U.S. nuclear industry generated 788,556 million kilowatt hours of electricity in 2004, a new U.S. (and international record). This total includes a flash estimate for nuclear generation in December 2004. The nuclear generation data table reports the monthly output for each reactor, by State.
Request for Comments on Natural Gas Surveys

EIA issued a Federal Register notice requesting comments on proposed revisions and a three-year extension of approval for its natural gas surveys. Comments should be submitted by May 6, 2005.

EIA Updates Web Site on Retail Gas Competition: The Energy Information Administration (EIA) has updated its web site on the status of natural gas industry restructuring in each state as of December 2004, focusing on the residential customer class. As of December 2004, 21 states and the District of Columbia have legislation or programs in place that allow residential consumers and other small-volume gas users to purchase natural gas from someone other than their traditional utility company.

Monthly Flash Estimates of Electric Power Data

This is the first release of the Energy Information Administration¿s (EIA) new product, Monthly Flash Estimates of Electric Power Data, which contains preliminary estimates of selected national monthly electricity data. This product will be released on a regular basis approximately 45 days after the end of the reporting month, and will serve as an early release (approximately 30 days) before the more detailed Electric Power Monthly report. The new release will present national-level data and charts for the reference month, as well as the previous month, year-to-date summation, and rolling 12-month information for electricity generation, fuel consumption, fuel stocks, electricity sales and revenue, and average retail electricity prices. It will also offer a brief summary of the national-level data to put the information into a useful context.

for the Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report (WNGSR) in a Federal Register notice published on January 7, 2005.
The comment period closed on February 7. The comments are provided in the attached file.
