EIA issued a Federal Register notice establishing a new policy allowing for the unscheduled release of revisions to weekly estimates of working gas volumes held in underground storage facilities at the national and regional levels disseminated in EIA's Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report (WNGSR). Under the new policy, an unscheduled release of revisions shall be disseminated on a Federal workday between 2:00 and 2:10 p.m. (Eastern Time) following public notification between 1:00 and 1:10 p.m. of the same day when the effect of reported changes is at least 10 billion cubic feet (Bcf) at either a regional or national level. This policy becomes effective with the WNGSR released on May 19, 2005, containing data as of May 13, 2005.

EIA Releases New Monthly Flash Estimates of Electric Power Data

Apr 22, 2005
This is the Energy Information Administration's (EIA) new product, Monthly Flash Estimates of Electric Power Data, which contains preliminary estimates of selected national monthly electricity data. This product is released on a regular basis approximately 45 days after the end of the reporting month, and serves as an early release (approximately 30 days) before the more detailed Electric Power Monthly report. Each new release will present national-level data and charts for the reference month, as well as the previous month, year-to-date summation, and rolling 12-month information for electricity generation, fuel consumption, fuel stocks, electricity sales and revenue, and average retail electricity prices. It will also offer a brief summary of the national-level data to put the information into a useful context.

End-Use Consumption of Electricity 2001

Apr 21, 2005
This article presents two tables of electricity use in residential households. The first table shows trend estimates for the major uses for electricity; air conditioning, space heating, water heating, and total appliances. The second table shows not only the amount of electricity consumed in 2001 for the most important household uses but also presents a more detailed breakout of electricity used for selected appliances. The largest use of electricity in the average U.S. household was for appliances (including refrigerators and lights), which consume approximately two thirds of all the electricity used in the residential sector. If you have any questions or comments, please contact the author, Robert Latta at 202-586-1385 or Stephanie J. Battles, RECS Survey Manager at 202-586-7237.

The generation tables have been reformatted for easier reading and analysis. The information is available either in a State Summary Table (PDF , EXCEL ) or the reformatted Reactor-level Table (PDF , EXCEL).
