State-Level Energy Production Annual Time Series Through 2007

Integrated, comprehensive time series of energy production estimates for each of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and the United States. Data are in physical units and British thermal units (Btu). Time series cover 1960-2007 except for natural gas and total production, which span 1970-2007.

EIA's primary report of recent energy statistics: total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; carbon dioxide emissions; and data unit conversions. In the first three quarters of 2009, compared with the same period in 2008, U.S. crude oil production was up 6 percent; U.S. petroleum imports were down 6 percent; and U.S. petroleum products supplied (a measure of consumption) was down 4 percent, according to preliminary statistics. The October issue of the Monthly Flash Estimate (MFE) of Electric Power Data is available on EIA's Electricity page. This issue provides early highlights of August, 2009 electricity data. In August 2009, retail sales of electricity decreased 2.3 percent compared to August 2008. The average U.S. retail price of electricity decreased 2.4 percent in August 2009 compared to the previous year.

Standards have been developed by the electric power industry to ensure coordination for the linked operations. Challenges facing the power grid include getting approval for corridors of land for new transmission lines within States or that cross multiple States, and the financing and constructing of new transmission lines to assure continued reliability of our electricity supply.

OPEC Revenues Fact Sheet

Based on projections from the EIA October 2009 Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) could earn $558 billion of net oil export revenues in 2009 and $686 billion in 2010. Last year, OPEC earned $971 billion in net oil export revenues, a 42 percent increase from 2007. Saudi Arabia earned the largest share of these earnings, $288 billion, representing 30 percent of total OPEC revenues. On a per-capita basis, OPEC net oil export earning reached $2,688 in 2008, a 40 percent increase from 2007.
