OPEC Revenues Fact Sheet

Based on projections from the EIA March 2009 Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) could earn $383 billion of net oil export revenues in 2009 and $503 billion in 2010. Last year, OPEC earned $970 billion in net oil export revenues, a 42 percent increase from 2007. Saudi Arabia earned the largest share of these earnings, $287 billion, representing 30 percent of total OPEC revenues. On a per-capita basis, OPEC net oil export earning reached $2,686 in 2008, a 40 percent increase from 2007.

World Proved Reserves of Oil and Natural Gas, Most Recent Estimates

An updated table of World Proved Reserves of Oil and Natural Gas, Most Recent Estimates is now available. The table has been updated to include country-level proved oil and natural gas reserve estimates for January 1, 2009 from the Oil & Gas Journal and for Year-End 2007 from World Oil. The table is also available in Excel spreadsheet format.

International Petroleum Monthly - February 2009

Electric Power Industry Reliability Data

Electric Power Industry Reliability data for 2007 and projected years covering information filed by the North American Electricity Reliability Corporation (NERC) , the electric power industrys electricity reliability organization. The data files present historical time series or actual year plus current year projections of National level and NERC regional breakouts on net energy for load; peak load; available electric generating capacity; capacity resource margins; electric system demand-side management; and projected transmission line additions.

Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report Notice: Upgrade to Gatekeeper Application

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) will implement a new version of its Gatekeeper application for the Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report (WNGSR) on April 2, 2009. EIA uses the Gatekeeper application to ensure secure and prompt posting of the WNGSR. Gatekeeper denies customer access to the data area for a brief period before the release time for the new data.

We are providing an opportunity to test the Gatekeeper application to all users of the data. To that end, we are asking all WNGSR customers who would normally access the data at 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays to participate in the test. If you are one of these customers, please attempt to access the test version of WNGSR at the following test directory address: http://www.eia.doe.gov/oil_gas/natural_gas/ngs_test/ngs.html

The February, 2009 issue of the Monthly Flash Estimate (MFE) of Electric Power Data is now available on EIAs Electricity page. MFE provides an early look at the highlights of the upcoming Electric Power Monthly publication and presents tables of electricity generation, fuel consumption for generation, fossil fuel stocks, and average retail sales and prices of electricity. MFE precedes the next issue of EPM by three weeks. The current issue covers an early review of the December, 2008 electricity data.

Wholesale Market Data

This site contains spreadsheets with wholesale electricity price data from the Intercontinental Exchange (latest update: February 2009). The files contain peak prices, volumes, and number of transactions at six electricity trading hubs covering most regions of the United States.

Public Use Microdata Files

The Energy Information Administration has released the 2005 Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS) public use microdata files to the web for data users who wish to conduct their own detailed analysis of U.S. residential energy consumption and expenditures. The files are in comma-delimited format. All RECS data files from 1987 forward are also available through the same site.

Electric Power Monthly

The latest EPM issue (February 2009) is now available on EIA's http://www.eia.doe.gov/fuelelectric.html. Data being published in the February 2009 EPM include November 2008 data. Historical copies of the EPM tables in Excel format have also been posted on the EIA website, dating back to the May 2003 publication of the EPM.
