1998 Manufacturing Energy Consumption Survey Data Tables

New data from the 1998 Manufacturing Energy Consumption Survey (MECS) have been added to the Web Site. The data tables present information on prices, expenditures, and quantities of purchased energy. Of special interest, breakouts of purchases of electricity and natural gas from utilities and nonutilities are available. The tables show that purchasers of natural gas from nonutility suppliers enjoy a lower price, but region of the country appears to be a much more significant factor.

Foreign Direct Investment in U.S. Energy in 1999

Today the Energy Information Administration released this annual report that presents an analysis of foreign direct investment in U.S. energy resources, assets, and companies. It describes the role of foreign ownership in U.S. energy enterprises with respect to acquisitions and divestitures, cumulative net investment(including net loans), capital investment, energy operations, and financial performance. Additionally, since energy investments are made in a global context, the report examines patterns of direct investment in foreign energy enterprises by U.S.-based companies.

International Petroleum Monthly - June 2001

This report contains monthly world oil production data through April 2001, monthly OECD country demand, imports, and stocks data through February 2001, and the Oil Market Chronology for May 2001. U.S. Carbon Dioxide Emissions from Energy Sources 2000 Flash Estimate

The flash estimate is based on data published in the Energy Information Administration's Monthly Energy Review (May 2001) and the Petroleum Supply Annual 2000. These estimates are considered to be preliminary. More detailed estimates of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from all sources, energy and non-energy, will appear in the report Emissions of Greenhouse Gases in the United States, 2000, which is scheduled to be released in October 2001.

U.S. natural gas exports to grow nearly 30% by 2027 as LNG facilities ramp up ›

In our latest Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), we forecast that U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports will continue to increase as five LNG export projects start operations and ramp up production by the end of 2027. We also forecast increased natural gas pipeline exports, mainly to Mexico. In our forecast, net exports of U.S. natural gas (exports minus imports) grow 18% to 18.7 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in 2026. In 2027, net exports increase another 10% to 20.5 Bcf/d. More
