Monthly Petroleum Products Time Series Data, by State -- an Update

EIA's Monthly Petroleum Products Time Series Data, by State have been updated. On the EIA States page, click on the desired State on the US Map and then select the desired time series under Petroleum; Or, from the right column of the EIA States page you can go directly to the EIA Monthly Time Series Data for each State. Four sets of Petroleum Products time series have been updated: (1) Prices, (2) Sales -- Transportation Fuels, (3) Sales -- Other Fuels, and (4) Stocks. The series start from January 1997 and go through November 2002. The data are extracted from the Oil and Gas Information Resource System (OGIRS).

U.S. LNG Markets and Uses

LNG technology is used for natural gas supply operations such as imports via tanker ships and domestic storage, and in consumption such as for vehicle fuel. This article examines different aspects of LNG operations, paying particular attention to marine terminals, peak-shaving storage facilities, and facilities serving niche markets such as LNG as a vehicular fuel or as an alternative to propane for facilities off the pipeline grid. The report highlights the role of the LNG storage facilities, as well as proposed expansion plans at existing U.S. LNG import terminals and proposals for new import facilities.

Pacific Appliance Report 2001

New data for 2001 on the market shares of appliances in the Pacific Division (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington) are presented in this report. Personal computers and gas appliances continued to be more common among the 17 million households in the Pacific than among U.S. households. Air-conditioning and most electric appliances continued to be less common among Pacific households. With the release of this report, all reports in the Appliance series have now been updated to include data for 2001.

This report presents a comprehensive annual financial review and analysis of the domestic and worldwide activities and operations of the major U.S.-based energy-producing companies. Emerging issues in financial performance are also analyzed. The report primarily examines these companies¿ operations on a consolidated corporate level, by individual lines of business, by major functions within each line-of-business, and by various geographic regions.

Mountain Appliance Report 2001

This brief report includes new data for 2001 on the market shares of appliances in the Mountain States (Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming). The data indicate that, among the 7 million households in the Mountain Division, electric appliances, particularly evaporative coolers, continued to be more common than among U.S. households, and gas appliances and air-conditioning continued to be less common.

West South Central Appliance Report 2001

This brief report on appliance market-share trends in the West South Central Census Division includes newly available data for 2001. The data show that air-conditioning continues to be more prevalent in West South Central households, when compared to U.S. households overall, and that most appliances are found in West South Central households about as often as in U.S. households.

Short Term Energy Outlook "PC Model"

The current Short Term Energy Outlook PC Model has been released. This model is callibrated to the January 2003 Base Case forecast and provides a means for developing user variations about the base case by manipulating the input assumptions -- price, weather etc.

Gasoline Price Pass-through

This article describes and updates EIA's analysis of wholesale-to-retail price passthrough in U.S. gasoline markets, and presents a simple model of the lags from changes in weekly average spot prices to those in retail prices at the regional level. This analysis builds on previous similar work performed with both gasoline and diesel fuel prices.

Increasing fuel efficiency leads to decreasing gasoline consumption ›

Annual motor gasoline consumption in the United States decreased in 2025 even as vehicle miles traveled (VMT) increased because of increasing fuel efficiency, a trend we forecast will continue in 2026 and 2027. U.S. motor gasoline consumption averaged 8.9 million barrels per day (b/d) in 2025, 1% less than 2024 and 4% less than pre-pandemic demand in 2019. In our April Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), we estimate that motor gasoline consumption will continue to decline as forecast fuel efficiency increases and VMT growth slows. More
