The latest issue of the Annual Coal Report is now available on the website. The publication contains data on coal production, prices, reserves, employment, productivity, and consumption for 2002. The data is presented at the State and regional level.
Electric Power Monthly

The latest issue is now available
on EIA's
Electricity page. The publication was redesigned beginning
with the April 2003 issue to incorporate improved statistics
and provide more detailed data. This report now shows tables
that are separated into two main categories: Electric Power
Sector (Electric Utilities and Independent Power Producers)
and Combined Heat and Power Producers (Commercial and Industrial.)
All data pertaining to these categories are presented together,
thus providing an integrated view of the electric power industry.
Additionally, the level of aggregation was also revised. The
lowest level of aggregation is at the State level, with greater
detail available in other Web products. Also, the publication
provides rolling 12-month totals in the national overviews,
as appropriate. Appendix D describes the reasoning behind the
changes and their effect on electric power publications. View

OPEC Brief

An updated version of our OPEC Brief is now available. Included in this revised report are the latest estimates of OPEC's production and capacity. The report presents 12 years (1991 - 2002) of national level data on generation; capacity; demand, capacity resources, and capacity margins; fuel; emissions; trade; retail customers, sales, and revenue; revenue and expense statistics; and demand-side management. State-level maps are provided on net generation, existing capacity, total ultimate customers, total retail sales, total revenues, average revenue per kilowatthour, residential average revenue per kilowatthour, commercial average revenue per kilowatthour, and industrial average revenue per kilowatthour.

Today the Energy Information Administration released advance copies of the tables that will appear as Appendix B in Performance Profiles of Major Energy Producers, 2002, that will be published in January 2004. The tables consist of financial and operating statistics of the major U.S. energy companies that report to the Financial Reporting System (FRS).

EIA Policy for Statistical Information Based on Petroleum Supply Reporting System Survey Data

EIA issued a Federal Register notice requesting comments on the policy for statistical information based on Petroleum Supply Reporting System survey data. This is a reaffirmation and clarification of the 1986 EIA policy for release of petroleum supply statistical information. Comments must be submitted by December 22, 2003.

Annual Energy Outlook Forecast Evaluation

In this paper, the Office of Integrated Analysis and Forecasting (OIAF) of the Energy Information Administration (EIA) evaluates the projections published in the Annual Energy Outlook (AEO), by comparing the projections from the Annual Energy Outlook 1982 through the Annual Energy Outlook 2003 with actual historical values. A set of major consumption, production, net import, price, economic, and emissions variables are included in the evaluation, updating similar papers from previous years. These evaluations also present the reasons and rationales for significant differences.
