Electric Power Monthly Flash Estimates

The latest, February 2006, issue of the MFE of Electric Power Data is now available on EIA¿s Electricity Publications page. MFE provides an early look at the highlights of the upcoming Electric Power Monthly publication and presents tables of electricity generation, fuel consumption for generation, fossil fuel stocks, and average retail sales and prices of electricity. MFE precedes the next issue of EPM by three weeks. The current issue covers an early review of the December 2005 electricity data. The publication is available both in PDF and Excel formats and can be accessed at the following address: http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/electricity/epm/flash/flash.html

Supplemental Tables to the Annual Energy Outlook 2006

The AEO Supplemental tables were generated for the reference case of the Annual Energy Outlook 2006 (AEO2006) using the National Energy Modeling System, a computer-based model which produces annual projections of energy markets for 2003 to 2030. Most of the tables were not published in the AEO2006, but contain regional and other more detailed projections underlying the AEO2006 projections. The files containing these tables are in spreadsheet formats. A total of one hundred and sixteen tables is presented.

Annual Energy Outlook 2006 with Projections to 2030

The AEO2006 presents midterm forecasts of energy supply, demand, and prices through 2030, which are based on results from EIA¿s National Energy Modeling System (NEMS). The analysis in AEO2006 focuses primarily on a reference case and four other cases that assume higher and lower economic growth and higher and lower prices than in the reference case. However, the analysis includes over 30 alternative cases examining different aspects of energy markets.

Electric Power Monthly

The latest EPM issue (February 2006) is now available on EIA's Electricity page. Data being published in the February 2006 EPM include January to November 2005 data. Historical copies of the EPM tables in Excel format have also been posted on the EIA website, dating back to the May 2003 publication of the EPM. Financial Reporting System Public Data, 1977-2004

Today the Energy Information Administration released the latest financial and operating data that it collects from the major U.S. energy companies on its Financial Reporting System (FRS)Form EIA-28. The survey data system reviews the functional performance of the major U.S. energy-producing companies in total, and by the following lines of business: petroleum, coal, non-conventional energy, non-energy, and beginning in 2003, downstream natural gas and electric power. The data are in excel spreadsheet files, and are located on EIA's ftp server for easy downloading. The files have been updated to include the latest year of data, 2004, so that now the series covers the years 1977-2004.

Iron and Steel Manufacturing Energy Intensities: 1998-2002

The Energy Information Administration, Energy Efficiency site has just released 1998 and 2002 Iron and Steel Manufacturing Energy Intensities. These tables provide estimates for energy consumed for all purposes, end uses of fuel consumption, offsite-produced fuel consumption, expenditures for purchased energy, as well as energy intensities per value of production, and per ton of steel. In 1998, the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) replaced the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system.

Advance Tables from Performance Profiles of Major Energy Producers 2004

Today the Energy Information Administration released advance copies of the tables that will appear as Appendix B in Performance Profiles of Major Energy Producers 2004. The tables consist of financial and operating statistics of the major U.S. energy companies that report to the Financial Reporting System (FRS). The full Performance Profiles report will be available towards the end of February.

State-level electricity consumption, price, and expenditure data through 2003 by consuming sector (residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation) are now available at SEDS Updates. Electricity consumption is provided in physical units (million kilowatthours) and British thermal units (Btu); prices in nominal dollars per million Btu; and expenditures in million nominal dollars.

Monthly Energy Review

EIA's primary report of recent energy statistics: total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; and data unit conversions. EIA¿s first set of preliminary petroleum data for 2005 show that crude oil and natural gas plant liquids production fell 382 thousand barrels per day (5%) compared with 2004; petroleum net imports rose 295 thousand barrels per day (2%); and petroleum consumption fell 64 thousand barrels per day (less than 1%). See "What's New" in the Monthly Energy Review for a record of changes.
