CBECS Public Use Microdata Files

Jul 12, 2006
The 2003 CBECS consumption and expenditures public use microdata files are now available. The attachments are comma separated value (.csv) files that each contain 4,820 records. They represent commercial buildings from the 50 States and the District of Columbia. Each record corresponds to a single responding, in-scope sampled building and contains information for that building such as the building size, year constructed, types of energy used, energy-using equipment, conservation features and energy consumption and expenditures. The smallest level of geographic detail available is the Census division, of which there are nine in the U.S. No state level data are available. Data for strip shopping center and enclosed mall buildings are not included on these files. Data for all buildings including malls will be released in late Summer 2006.
