Electricity Data for the International Energy Annual 2006

Dec 23, 2008
Excel spreadsheets with time series data for the years 1980-2006 on: (1) net consumption and generation of hydroelectric, nuclear, and geothermal, solar, wind, and wood and waste electric power in both billion kilowatthours and British thermal units (Btu); (2) net conventional thermal electricity generation, total net electricity generation, and total net electricity consumption in billion kilowatthours; (3) electricity imports and exports in both billion kilowatthours and Btu; and (4) gross heat content of hydroelectric power, nuclear electric power, and geothermal electric power, solar and wood and waste electric power, and wind electric power. Also included are Excel spreadsheets with time series data for January 1, 1980-January 1, 2006 on electricity installed capacity by type. Important Notes: (1) The Energy Information Administration reviews its databases each year and important revisions are made to the time series data of individual countries during this review. Therefore, data in the International Energy Annual 2006 may have been substantially revised relative to previous editions. (2) In this edition, the name of East Timor has been changed to Timor-Leste (East Timor). (3) Electricity data for more recent periods for some countries are available in the Electricity section of our International Page.)

U.S. industrial natural gas consumption expected to hit records in 2026 and 2027 ›

We forecast U.S. industrial natural gas consumption will climb to record highs through 2027 in our latest Short-Term Energy Outlook. Industrial consumption averaged a record 23.6 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in 2025, 1% more than the record 23.4 Bcf/d reached in 2023. In our forecast, consumption gradually increases further in 2026 and in 2027 as we expect the natural gas-weighted manufacturing index to also rise slightly over this period. More
