EIA Proposes New Weekly Underground Natural Gas Storage Report (EIA-912)

EIA has requested Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval by January 14, 2002, to initiate a new weekly survey that will collect information on natural gas inventories held in U.S. underground storage facilities. Storage estimates will be collected for three multi-state regions comprising the lower 48 States. A copy of the materials submitted to OMB is available. Comments to OMB are due by January 4, 2002.

E-mail capability as part of your cellular telephone service is required. Every Monday, after 5:00 PM, EIA will send an E-mail message containing the current week's retail diesel fuel prices to your cellular telephone. EIA is interested in receiving comments from customers on the cell phone E-mail message and determining the interest of its customers for this new mode of disseminating data. Five time series are accessible: (1) Petroleum Product Prices, (2) Petroleum Product Sales, (3) Petroleum Product Stocks, (4) Natural Gas Prices, (5) Natural Gas Production and Sales. The data are extracted from the Oil and Gas Information Retrieval System (OGIRS).

All of the 1999 CBECS building characteristics tables have been updated with the most current data, and the final twelve building characteristics tables have been added. These new tables provide information on heated, cooled, and lit floorspace and on the end-use equipment found in buildings (heating, cooling, water heating, refrigeration, and lighting).

Today the Energy Information Administration released an advance copy of the statistical tables that will appear in Appendix B of "Performance Profiles of Major Energy Producers, 2000" on its Web site. The tables consist of financial and operating statistics of the major U.S. energy companies that report to the Financial Reporting System (FRS) on Form EIA-28. The full report will be published in January 2002.
