Outlook for Natural Gas and Petroleum

This presentation by Guy Caruso, Administrator of the Energy Information Administration, addresses current market conditions for crude oil, petroleum products, and natural gas and the short-term outlook for these commodities. Inventories of crude oil, distillate fuel oil, propane, and natural gas are all below recent averages and a number of uncertainties exist relating to prices, supplies, and consumption for the next winter.

EIA Requests Comments on Petroleum Supply Surveys

EIA issued a Federal Register notice soliciting public comments on proposed revisions and a three-year extension of approval for the petroleum supply surveys. Comments must be filed by July 22, 2003.

Square Footage Measurements and Comparisons

May 22, 2003
The average total square footage of U.S. housing units, as measured in the 2001 Residential Energy Consumption Survey, was 2,066 square feet. This is a 10.6 percent increase above the average total square footage of 1,875 square feet in 1993, when it was last measured.

Fax and Photocopier Machines

May 22, 2003
In 2001, 23.6 million households had a fax machine with more than half (53.3 percent) as a feature of a PC printer. There were also 20.0 million households with photocopier machines; nearly two-thirds of those (63.0 percent) were a feature of a PC printer.

EIA Release of Uranium Mines and Properties Information to Federal Agencies for Official Uses

EIA issued a Federal Register notice informing the public of its intent to release, upon request from Federal government agencies for official uses, confidential information about uranium mines and properties in the United States. Release to other agencies will begin on or after June 20, 2003. Any public comments must be filed by June 13.

EIA Requests Comments on Oil and Gas Reserves Surveys

EIA issued a Federal Register notice soliciting public comments on a proposal to request a three-year extension of approval to continue the EIA Oil and Gas Reserves surveys. Comments must be filed by July 13, 2003.

Monthly Petroleum Time Series Data, by State -- an Update

EIA's Monthly Petroleum Product Time Series Data, by State, have been updated. On the EIA States page, click on the desired State on the US Map and then select the desired time series under Petroleum; Or, from the right column of the EIA States page you can go directly to the EIA Monthly Time Series Data for each State. Four sets of petroleum products time series have been updated: (1) Petroleum Product Prices, (2) Petroleum Product Sales -- Tansportation Fuels, (3) Petroleum Product Sales -- Other Fuels, (4) Petroleum Product Stocks. The series start from January 1997 and go through February 2003. The data are extracted from the Oil and Gas Information Resource System (OGIRS).

Most planned natural gas pipeline capacity additions in 2026 and 2027 originate in Texas ›

Developers plan to bring approximately 44.9 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of new pipeline capacity online in the United States in 2026 and 2027, according to our latest Natural Gas Pipeline Projects Tracker. Approximately 70% (31.6 Bcf/d) of this new capacity is already under construction. More than 66% (29.7 Bcf/d) of the capacity additions originate in Texas. Louisiana is second with 19% (8.4 Bcf/d) of total capacity additions. More
