Monthly Natural Gas Time Series Data, by State -- An Update

Jul 23, 2003
EIA's Monthly Natural Gas Time Series, by State, have been updated. Two sets of natural gas time series have been updated: (1) Prices, and (2) Production & Use. The series start from January 1997 and go through February 2003. The data are extracted from the Oil and Gas Information Resource System (OGIRS). The Series for Industrial Use and Prices have been redefined to exclude the natural gas used for power generation. The category, Utilities, has been replaced by Electric Power because the series now includes natural gas used for electricity generated by non-utilities. On the EIA States page, http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/states/_states.html or simply, http://www.eia.doe.gov/states/ Click on the desired State on the US Map and then select the desired time series under Natural Gas; Or, from the right column of the EIA States page you can go directly to the EIA Monthly Time Series for each State.

Electric Power Monthly

Jul 21, 2003
The May issue is now available on EIA's Electricity page. The publication was redesigned beginning with the April 2003 issue to incorporate improved statistics and provide more detailed data. This report now shows tables that are separated into two main categories: Electric Power Sector (Electric Utilities and Independent Power Producers) and Combined Heat and Power Producers (Commercial and Industrial.) All data pertaining to these categories are presented together, thus providing an integrated view of the electric power industry. Additionally, the level of aggregation was also revised. The lowest level of aggregation is at the State level, with greater detail available in other Web products. Also, the publication provides rolling 12-month totals in the national overviews, as appropriate. Appendix D describes the reasoning behind the changes and their effect on electric power publications. View an on-line summary of the publication.
