State Nuclear Profiles

The following States have been updated in the enhanced format: California, Iowa, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vermont. The South Carolina profile includes a feature on disposal of low-level waste at the Barnwell facility, one of only two such facilities in the Nation. The Tennessee profile includes a feature on computers and the nuclear industry.

State Motor Gasoline, Distillate Fuel, Residual Fuel, and Kerosene Consumption, Price, and Expenditure Estimates Through 2004

State-level annual time series on motor gasoline, distillate fuel, residual fuel, and kerosene consumption, prices, and expenditures through 2004 are now available on the Web at seds update. The estimates are provided by sector (residential, commercial, industrial, transportation, and electric power) and total. Consumption estimates begin in 1960 and are provided in thousand barrels and British thermal units (Btu) for all sources and sectors; price and expenditure estimates begin in 1970 and are in nominal dollars per million Btu and million nominal dollars, respectively.

Alternatives to Traditional Transportation Fuels 2005

In 2005, original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket conversion facilities supplied more than 890,000 alternative fueled vehicles (AFVs) to be used on U.S. highways. Ethanol vehicles accounted for more than 80% of all AFVs and hybrid vehicles made available. Data tables reflect made available and planned to be made available AFV usage for 2005 and 2006 respectively.

Energy Use in Manufacturing

The Energy Consumption Division has a follow-up of the "Energy Use in Manufacturing". This report addresses both changes in manufacturing energy consumption and characteristics of the manufacturing economy related to energy consumption between 1998 and 2002. In addition, special sections on fuel switching capacity and energy-management activities are also featured in this report.

Electric Power Monthly

Additions to Capacity on the U.S. Natural Gas Pipeline Network: 2005

EIA announced in the Federal Register that it will continue the monthly collection of data on Forms EIA-182, Domestic Crude Oil First Purchase Report, and EIA-856, Monthly Foreign Crude Oil Acquisition Report, through the reporting of October 2006 data that is due to EIA by November 30, 2006.

International Petroleum Monthly - July 2006

International Energy Annual 2004

The International Energy Annual 2004 is the Energy Information Administration's primary report of international energy statistics. Included are data on energy consumption and production; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, and electricity, as well as carbon dioxide emissions from the use of fossil fuels, petroleum prices, energy reserves, and population; and data unit conversion tables. For many series, data cover the years 1980-2004. Also included is a World Energy Overview comparing 1994 and 2004.

Annual Energy Outlook Evaluation, 2005

In this paper, the Office of Integrated Analysis and Forecasting (OIAF) of the Energy Information Administration (EIA) evaluates the projections published in the Annual Energy Outlook (AEO), by comparing the projections from the Annual Energy Outlook 1982 through the Annual Energy Outlook 2005 with actual historical values. A set of major consumption, production, net import, price, economic, and emissions variables are included in the evaluation, updating similar papers from previous years. These evaluations also present the reasons and rationales for significant differences.

Monthly Energy Review

EIA's primary report of recent energy statistics: total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; and data unit conversions. Over the first half of 2006, the average number of rotary rigs in operation in the United States (onshore and offshore) was up 21 percent compared with the first half of 2005; the number of wells drilled was also up 21 percent; and total footage drilled was up 27 percent. See "What's New" in the Monthly Energy Review for a record of changes.

Worldwide, twenty-three reactors closed since the beginning of 1999, compared to thirty-five reactors commissioned during that period and to the 442 reactors now operating in the world. The reasons why each reactor has closed and the types of reactors closed are listed in a table.
