The September, 2007 issue of the Monthly Flash Estimate (MFE) of Electric Power Data is now available on EIAs Electricity Publications page. MFE provides an early look at the highlights of the upcoming Electric Power Monthly publication and presents tables of electricity generation, fuel consumption for generation, fossil fuel stocks, and average retail sales and prices of electricity. MFE precedes the next issue of EPM by three weeks. The current issue covers an early review of the July, 2007 electricity data. The publication is available both in PDF and Excel formats and can be accessed at the following address:

Electricity Data for the International Energy Annual 2005
Sep 19, 2007
Excel spreadsheets with time series data for the years 1980-2005 on: (1) net consumption and
generation of hydroelectric, nuclear, and geothermal, solar, wind, and wood and waste
electric power in both billion kilowatthours and British thermal units (Btu); (2) net
conventional thermal electricity generation, total net electricity generation, and total net
electricity consumption in billion kilowatthours; (3) electricity imports and exports in
both billion kilowatthours and Btu; and (4) gross heat content of hydroelectric power,
nuclear electric power, and geothermal electric power, solar and wood and waste electric
power, and wind electric power. Also included are Excel spreadsheets with time series data
for January 1, 1980-January 1, 2005 on electricity installed capacity by type. Important
Notes: (1) The Energy Information Administration reviews its databases each year and
important revisions are made to the time series data of individual countries during this
review. Therefore, data in the International Energy Annual 2005 may have been
substantially revised relative to previous editions. (2) In this edition, we have also moved
Cyprus from our Middle East region to our Europe region, changed the name of Serbia and
Montenegro to Former Serbia and Montenegro, and added the countries of Montenegro and Serbia
to our Europe region. 9See

Coal Data for the International Energy Annual 2005
Sep 19, 2007
Excel spreadsheets with time series data for the years 1980-2005 on: (1) coal consumption
and total primary coal production in both million short tons and British thermal units (Btu);
(2) anthracite, bituminous, and lignite coal production in thousand short tons; (3) carbon dioxide
emissions from the consumption of coal measured in both million metric tons of carbon dioxide and
million metric tons carbon equivalent; and (4) gross heat content of coal production. Also
included are Excel spreadsheets with detailed data for primary and secondary coal production in
thousand short tons for the year 2004, coal supply and disposition (including imports and exports)
in trillion Btu for 2004, and updated estimates of recoverable coal. Important Notes:

Energy and Economic Impacts of Implementing a 25-Percent Renewable Portfolio Standard and Renewable Fuel Standard by 2025
Sep 11, 2007
This report responds to a request by Senator James Inhofe for analysis of a 25-by-25" proposal that combines a requirement that a 25-percent share of electricity sales be produced from renewable sources by 2025 with a requirement that a 25-percent share of liquid transportation fuel sales also be derived from renewable sources by 2025. The electricity requirement is implemented as a renewable portfolio standard (RFS), while the motor fuel standard is implemented as a renewable fuel standard (RFS). The report provides a summary of the impacts of the Policy on U.S. energy markets and the economy through 2030.
