In preliminary U.S. statistics, net imports of energy accounted for 29.2 percent of total energy consumed in the first three quarters of the year, compared with 30.3 percent in the first three quarters of 2006. International Petroleum Monthly - November 2007

Early Release of the Reference Case from the Annual Energy Outlook 2008

The AEO2008 presents long-term projections of energy supply, demand, and prices through 2030, which are based on results from EIAs National Energy Modeling System (NEMS). The AEO2008 Early Release only includes the reference case. The full publication, including complete documentation and over 30 additional cases examining energy markets will be released early 2008.

Oil and Natural Gas Market Supply and Renewable Portfolio Standard Impacts of Selected Provisions of H.R. 3221

This paper responds to an October 31, 2007, request from Representatives Barton, McCrery, and Young requesting the Energy Information Administration (EIA) to assess selected provisions of H.R. 3221, the energy bill adopted by the House of Representatives in early August 2007. The analysis focuses on Title VII, dealing with energy on Federal lands; Section 9611, which would establish a Federal renewable portfolio standard (RPS) for certain electricity sellers; and Section 13001, which would eliminate the eligibility of oil and natural gas producers and refiners to claim deductions under Section 199 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Data describe generating capability, electricity generation, fuel use and prices, retail sales by end use sector and ownership type, and emissions. A new addition this year, state-level supply and disposition of electricity, indicates net interstate exchanges of electricity. Data for all years are also available in Excel file format.

U.S. natural gas storage levels remain above average through injection season ›

In our latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, we forecast U.S. working natural gas inventories will reach 3,872 billion cubic feet (Bcf) by the end of October, or 2% more than the previous five-year average for that time of year. Natural gas inventories grew quickly in late April through early June, with seven consecutive weeks of net injections to inventories exceeding 100 Bcf each for the first time since 2014. More
