This paper responds to an October 31, 2007, request from Representatives Barton, McCrery, and Young requesting the Energy Information Administration (EIA) to assess selected provisions of H.R. 3221, the energy bill adopted by the House of Representatives in early August 2007. The analysis focuses on Title VII, dealing with energy on Federal lands; Section 9611, which would establish a Federal renewable portfolio standard (RPS) for certain electricity sellers; and Section 13001, which would eliminate the eligibility of oil and natural gas producers and refiners to claim deductions under Section 199 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Annual report describes the electricity industry in each State, with printer-friendly statistics from 1990, 1995, and 2001 through 2006. Data describe generating capability, electricity generation, fuel use and prices, retail sales by end use sector and ownership type, and emissions. A new addition this year, state-level supply and disposition of electricity, indicates net interstate exchanges of electricity. Data for all years are also available in Excel file format.

Over the first 8 months of 2007, preliminary statistics show U.S. total net imports of energy down 1.8% compared with the first 8 months of 2006. World LNG Imports by Origin, 2006

A table with country-level imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by country of origin for the year 2006 is now available. The table is also provided in Excel spreadsheet format. These tables for 2006, as well as tables for the years 1993-2005, are also available on the International Natural Gas Trade Page. Data in the 2004 and 2005 tables have just been revised and updated.

Monthly Flash Estimate (MFE)

The November, 2007 issue of the Monthly Flash Estimate (MFE) of Electric Power Data is now available on EIA's Electricity Publications page. MFE provides an early look at the highlights of the upcoming Electric Power Monthly publication and presents tables of electricity generation, fuel consumption for generation, fossil fuel stocks, and average retail sales and prices of electricity. MFE precedes the next issue of EPM by three weeks. The current issue covers an early review of the September, 2007 electricity data. Preliminary Analytical Tables 2000-2006

These 35 tables are advance copies of the tables that will appear as Appendix B in Performance Profiles of Major Energy Producers, 2006, which will be published in December 2007. The tables consist of aggregated financial and operating statistics of the major U.S.-based energy companies that report to the Energy Information Administration on the Financial Reporting System (FRS) EIA-28 survey.
