Beginning June 10, 2026 (covering data for the week ending June 5, 2026), EIA will enhance the way we disseminate data in the Weekly Petroleum Status Report (WPSR) by streamlining formats and introducing new offerings.
We are changing how data is published, not what data EIA collects, our collection methods, or the statistical methodologies used to produce the WPSR. The published data, underlying methodologies, and all existing data elements will remain the same.
Effective June 10, WPSR data will transition to new, consolidated HTML, CSV, and JSON formats. We will no longer publish the current PDF, XLS, and older CSV table formats, along with specific data calculations (e.g., week-ago/year-ago percentage changes, cumulative daily averages) and certain price data with the WPSR. All historical WPSR data—including the underlying series needed to perform week‑over‑week, year‑over‑year, and other derived calculations—will remain accessible and available for XLS or API download through the Petroleum & Other Liquids Data page. We are also introducing new tables for U.S. petroleum stocks, crude oil balances, and product supplied.
Organizations relying on automated data pulls will need to update their processes due to the new formats. To assist, a test site with sample files (CSV and JSON) for the period ending May 15, 2026, are available, and user testing sessions are planned and highly encouraged.
These streamlining efforts together with earlier infrastructure and workflow enhancements implemented over the past several months, will strengthen the resiliency of our WPSR publication, allowing our team to focus on the data and statistics at our core.
